The solution was very easy once I understood. My main problem was interpreting the phrase, "increased to". I kept trying to use the original surface area given.
Hi everyone-This is my first time posting a homework question. I'm a little stuck. I appreciate any help to clue me in the right direction.
Homework Statement
If the drum has a surface area of 6.25×10−2 , what total quantity of charge must reside on the surface of the drum?
I got...
Things did not go as planned-I had to go back and correct some major deficiencies:blushing:
The new schedule:
Precalculus I
Beginning Japanese
C++
This will definitely be easier on me since I still have a full time job--and for the Japanese, it will be fun to revisit after 20 years!
I meant to add:
I found a blog where a person with dyscalculia was pursuing a degree in physics but I cannot find any links :(
Hopefully, this thread will be a bit more helpful:

I am just beginning my journey so I may not best qualify to provide advice. Also, I do not wish to steer you down the wrong path away from your goals. I do hope others here will chime in.
It sounds as if there is still hope. You did not provide any details on school scheduling, social life...
Mathemaniac, thanks again for the input. Not your fault if you felt you misunderstood, I know these types of posts have been repeated ad nauseum and will probably continue. Doesn't help my case much if I sound like a fangirl. I definitely need no illusions...

Thanks for chiming in--looking back over my OP, I realized I may have come across as someone who might be making a hasty decision based on what I think being a physicist might be like. I assure you, I have looked beyond the surface and considered the requirements and commitments.

Thanks again for responding - I find stories such as yours inspiring. I hope to come to a final decision before the end of next week.
Best of luck to your and your wife with your studies!

Vector, I am slightly confused...
Jordanjohnson, I feel I am in a very similar situation - only I'm not quite finished with my bachelors degree (in web design).
I am ready to completely drop it to pursue physics and possibly electrical engineering even though I'm 'thisclose' to finishing. My debt is not quite that high but...
Thank you for the replies--your responses are very encouraging.
Sometimes I wonder when we ask for advice, are we really asking to have our position on matters validated...I suppose I needed to know that my situation is not as unique as I thought.
Most people I mention this to think its...
Hello all. This is my first post. I am seeking advice, criticism or generally, any helpful information you can provide.
Similar to more recent posts, I am in my 30's considering taking up the study of physics. I have spent a good 2 or 3 months lurking here and researching career options...
