Admissions Applying for a phd post in physics, how useful would a masters be?
Thanks for the responses! But if I were to apply for a phd post in Britain, how much would the masters improve my chances over a bachelors (assuming first or 2:1)- zas240

Admissions Applying for a phd post in physics, how useful would a masters be?
Hello, I'm nearing the end of my first year as an undergrad in physics at a Russell group university. I'm currently registered on the Bsci course, straight physics. I'm interested in theoretical particle physics, and if (as I hope to do) a phd I think that's what I would like to do it in. My...- zas240

How different are Computational physics and straight physics?
Also, thanks for responding so quick :) its most helpful (apologoies for the double post, hit the wrong button, damn being awake for 18 hours.)- zas240

How different are Computational physics and straight physics?
erm, well I'm pretty good with VB6 and I'm learning C# and C++ at the moment, and I've had a shot with Objective - C for iPhone apps, and I've still got another year of A level computing to go and my local university (Cardiff) does- zas240

How different are Computational physics and straight physics?
Hello, I'm a UK user, I'm 15 but I'm in lower 6th thanks to being accelerated a year. I'm very interested in physics, but I was wondering how different are the BSc courses in Computational Physics and straight Physics. Thing is, I'm not sure I'm intelligent enough to do straight physics, but I...- zas240

Undergrad Light Speed in Atmosphere: Does It Regain Energy? | Explained
So (excuse the naive question) where does the heat energy come from in say a sheet of glass, when light shines through it? -

Undergrad Light Speed in Atmosphere: Does It Regain Energy? | Explained
Hello. I was wondering, if light from a star (for arguments sake take our sun) emits light, and the light passes through a planets atmosphere (again for arguments sake, take our own planet Earth), it slows down as it moves into the denser area of our atmosphere. Say then it left the atmosphere...
