What is the torque exerted by the malfunctioning thruster on the Jupiter 6?

Yeah. That was it. Can't believe I didn't realize that sooner. τ=8.445*10^11 Nm j

What is the torque exerted by the malfunctioning thruster on the Jupiter 6?

I might have just figured out how I was going about it incorrectly. Rather than having the thruster force always in the same direction, it would be changing since it's attached to the ship. I'm going to try it that way.

What is the torque exerted by the malfunctioning thruster on the Jupiter 6?

Homework Statement http://spiff.rit.edu/webwork2_course_files/phys216/tmp/gif/set24-prob2-./giant_saucer.gif The Jupiter 6 is a giant spaceship in the shape of a big, flat disk: it has radius R=5000 m, height h=200 m, and mass M=8.00E+08 kg. As it flies through space, it rotates around...

Understanding Spring Force and Potential Energy on a Tilted Ramp

I figured out where I was going wrong, it was in the trig for getting the force down the ramp. mgsinθ, not mg/sinθ, although I still got the right answer for the last part using mg/sinθ. Homework Statement A spring is set to move along the surface of a frictionless ramp, which is tilted...
