How far out on a diving board (Fig.12-52 of your text) would a 56-kg diver have to be to exert a torque of 1000 m.N on the board, relative to the left support post?
1000 m*N= (56 kg)(9.8 m/s2)x
1000 m*N=548.8x
x=1.82 m
He would have to walk out 1.82 m on the board.
