1. The problem statement, all variables and given/known data
How many moles is 34.8 of sodium hypochlorite ?


2. Relevant equations
34.8g (1mol/____g) = ______mol


3. The attempt at a solution

34.8g (1mol/58.44g) = 2033.712mol

Not quite sure if this is how things work, hopefully you can give me a few hints.

It is the right idea but,
The Molar mass of NaClO is not 58.44g/mol (I think it is 74.44 g/mol) -- look it up. Second even if it were 58.44, 34.8g (1mol/58.44g) is NOT 2033.712mol. It has to be less than one mole since the amount you have is less than the molar mass. You did your math wrong AND used an incorrect constant. Try again.

First the molar mass of NaOCl is=22.99+16.00+35.5
=74.49 g/mol
other than that , your can find the number of moles by :
number of moles of NaOCl = mass of NaOCl used / molar mass of NaOCl
therefore , you can simply use : 34.8/74.49
so here comes the answer = 0.4672 mol
