Do you live near campus? If so, I don't think that schedule is too bad. I've taken night classes, personally I don't like them, but I live far from campus so I either have to stay on campus for a long time, or waste time going back and forth from campus.
I'm taking (barring any unforeseen incidents):
-Topology (Munkres)
-Probability (Casella)
-Advanced Data Analysis (Using Minitab)
-Some core class (either Intro Microeconomics, Intro Sociology, or Psych Stats) depends on the professors and syllabus.
The best part of this schedule: all my classes are on Tuesday and Thursday!!!
Linear Algebra
Intro to Mathematical Biology
Second Semester Statistics
Organic Chemistry (with lab)
Other classes (Design Process and Directed Studies)
hopefully
linear algebra
intro to modern physics
some other math class
programming 1 or intro circuit analysis
-Vehicle Dynamics
-Flight Dynamics
-Aircraft Flight Testing
-Computer-Aided Design (8:00 am, DAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMIT)
-Integrated Product and Process Development (Senior Project course, one semester)
Then Im finally done with school, THANK GOD!

Jun21-07, 08:42 PM
I'll be teaching:
Fall:
Block 1: Honors Physics
Block 3: IB/AP Physics I
Block 4: Honors Physics
Spring:
Block 2: Honors PHysics
Block 3: Foundations of General Science (Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!)
Block 4: IB/AP Physics II & III
How about you combine them--a whimsical observation by you, taken out of context?
I guess you gave up on CP? Dont ever talk to me again traitor.
What the hell is CP?
EDIT: Are you talking about UMD? As much as I wanted to go there, it's just not worth spending 3 or 4 times the money on.

Yeah, its hella expensive out of state.
Yeah, its hella expensive out of state.
I would have chosen UMich over UMD anyway ... Same problem though. I would probably be willing to pay that much more for Cornell or MIT, but not those.

Congrats man!
I only have a year left! I'm excited.
You're finishing in the fall, cyrusabdollahi? And are you doing an aerospace engineering type specialization with Mech. E?
Thats the plan. Im just a regular ole ME. We have to take at least two courses outside our major, 7 electives total. So I am taking 3 aerospace courses since Im applying to Aerospace graduate school. (Id have to take those courses if I got accepted into Grad school anyways, so it kills two boeings with one bird strike).
Did you take Aerodynamics yet Z-component?
z-component
Jun21-07, 10:31 PM
Not yet. I'm taking regular old Statics and Structures of Materials next semester (a 5 credit course--of course I have the option of splitting them up into two 3 credit courses). Aerodynamics for me comes 5th semester, and I'm going to my 3rd.
When you take it, buy this book.

Its by A professor here at my school, and is almost a bible when it comes to Aerodynamics. Its the best book you will ever read. Anderson's book is amazing on the subjet. 10x better than my fluid mechanics book. I sent him an email because I want to ask him some questions on parts he wrote. Hopefully if hes back on campus I can meet up with him in his office. He works also at the Smithsonian and is semi-retired I think. Hes Professor Emeritus.

Something to the effect of:
Physics Lab 1
Chemistry 1
Calculus 1
Fundamentals of Engineering
Those are the interesting ones, at least.
My courses this Fall are:
Advanced Electricity and Magnetism
Quantum Physics 1
Mathematical Methods for Scientists (my only undergraduate course this Fall)
Research Seminar
Oral Communication Skills for Physics (basically a first year grad student's "how to speak in public" course)
And then there's the courses I'll have to teach as a TA. Not sure what I get, but I'm hoping it'll be calculus-based physics 1.
tacosareveryyum
Jun22-07, 10:23 AM
I will be taking:
Quantum Mechanics A
Intermediate E&M
Advanced Physics Lab
Particle/Nuclear Physics
General Relativity
Optics or Religious Ethics(multicultural requirement) or Spanish 3
If I can manage 18 credits the next 2 semesters I can graduate!:tongue2:
-Vehicle Dynamics
-Flight Dynamics
-Aircraft Flight Testing
-Computer-Aided Design (8:00 am, DAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMIT)
-Integrated Product and Process Development (Senior Project course, one semester)

OUCH Cyrus!! I had an AutoCAD lab at 8:00AM, so I feel for ya!
This fall for me looks like so:
MATH 344 Linear Algebra
PHYS 350 Mathematical Physics I
PHYS 474 E&M I
GERM 101 German
PSYC 220 Abnormal Psycology
T/RS 353 Religions of the World
E&M is probably going to take up a lot of my time, but otherwise I think things will be fine. I have a lot of GE's though. I guess thats the downside of going to a liberal arts university.

Are you at an American university? That lineup of classes just looks different from what I usually see at typical american universities. For instance, the 'behavior of lquids, gases and solids' class looks strange...plus 'behavior' is spelled differently than the American way.
Could you provide a course description of the liquids, gases, and solids course?

No anyone who wants to be an engineer up here takes the courses I posted (plus 5 others : General Chem, multivariable calc, design n communication II, E&M, and a programming course) in the first year. Then after your first year you declare your major. I will prolly be going ME or EE, we'll see. :)
I just added intro to engineering onto my schedule :)
If you didn't know (uhh why would you), I'm an engineering physics major.
Final Schedule (http://www.twilightus.net/adam/images/Schedule2.png)
That schedule sucks. You want to be finished as early in the day as possible. 11:30-2:30 is going to be wasted time, because no one really studies between classes like that. It always gets wasted hanging out with friends between classes.
Its better to have one class after the other. Then you just get done with it and go home.
You have a LOT of wasted time between classes.
Watch, you lose this much time each day:
M: 3hr:30min
T: 30min
W: 3hr:30min
Th:30min
F: 1hr
Thats about 10 hours a week wasted between classes doing nothing.
...
I know. I didn't have many choices in regards to what time I have classes at. This is the only way to get my classes to fit together. I still check every so often to see if any classes opened up so that I would be able to switch a few things around. Unfortunately, moving one thing causes a conflict with another, and so forth.
Just spend that time talking to girls (not the ones in engineering though, ughhh).
That reminds me... I recently had orientation and in that we had college specific meetings. The girls at the college of science and college of engineering meetings were mostly :uhh:

Honestly though, I couldn't tell you if that is the case since most of them usually have their nose buried in a book, so I can't tell:rofl:

Wow, we have a lot of people graduating this year (or that are very close). Add me to that list  Unless I am unable to attend school for some strange reason I should graduate in the Spring with a B.S. in Pure Math.
Will be starting second year of Mechanical Engineering. I am taking vector calc and Diffeq now (summer semester), so during the fall I only have to take:
materials I
kinem/dyn/mech of rigid bodies
deformable bodies I
thermodynamics I
If I decide to double major in math (which is looking likely), I will also be taking:
intro to analysis I
linear algebra II

I'm at Ohio State right now. I finished UCLA back in 2003, and moved to Columbus 2 years ago when work moved me here.

Sorry you had to miss UCLA's amazing victory against the Trojans last year!
So, are you still working while going to school? Which program are you in?
Yes, I'm still working full time as a health physicist and school full time for a nuclear engineer masters (specialty radiation protection and medical physics, naturally). Assuming I can figure out a decent thesis and finish it, I should graduate this spring as well. I may go on to a second masters in physics as well (yeah, I'm a masochist!)
For sure I'll be taking Math Methods I. I'm uncertain as to how I'll take the other 3 classes, whether they be engineering or math classes. And I'll be attending at daveb and mathishard's school, UCLA
I'll most likely end up taking:
Physics - Math Methods
Math - Linear Algebra (upperdiv)
Math - Systems of DEs
MechEng - Statics
Physics - Math Methods
If you can manage to take this class from Dr. Gelmini, I highly recommend her.
miao, j is teaching it. do you know him or her?

I can take Dynamics and Strengths of Materials separately, but right now it's a little late to switch. A significant amount is skipped, usually?
Well, statics and MoM are really going to be the foundation for all your other courses later on. Everything will build on top of these courses. I took them separately. I think its really worth it to take them one each semester. Vibrations, Aerodynamics, Material Science, Dynamics. All these classes will be a continuation of Statics and MoM. If you can spend the time to master these two classes, life will be a LOT easier. Most people who struggle later on usually have weak backgrounds in statics. For statics get Hibbeler and Beer-Johnson and know them both cover to cover. I spent an entire summer working through every problem in Hibbeler's statics, you should really consider doing the same after you finish the course and have free time. You will pick up the skill on how to recognize tricks to solving problems and will make you good at realizing when to play geometric tricks.
