Has one tried searching for "Aluminum Refining" on Google?

The of course, there's the websites of the producers, e.g. Aloca

As for cost, that might be hard to find.

Yes, when loaded parallel to the grain. When loaded perpendicular to the grain the strength-to-weight ratio is several times lower and comparable to metal alloys. Engineered composites are even higher. See, for example, Ashby's Materials Selection in Mechanical Design.
