View Full Version : Edouard Lucas. Théorie des Nombres. Help with his unpublished Second Volume

I have Edouard Lucas's book entitled: Théorie des Nombres Volume I(1891),
and I know that a Second Volume was in preparation, but was not published
due to his accidental death in the same year the first volume was printed.
Does anyone here know how to find any papers, links, or references related
to his work on such Second Volume?
Many thanks for any help on this matter,

I took a quick look online and found digital copies of the Tome Premiere you've already got and a bunch of other works by him but no trace of the Tome Deuxieme:
Recherches Sur Plusieurs Ouvrages De Léonard De Pise Et Sur Diverses Questions D’Arithmétique Supérieure (http://www.math.utah.edu/~beebe/software/java/fibonacci/lucas_book_leonard_de_pise.pdf) (1877)
Théorie des nombres (http://books.google.com/books?id=_hsPAAAAIAAJ&printsec=toc#PPR3,M1), Tome Premiere (1891)
Récréations mathématiques (http://books.google.com/books?id=Ea8AAAAAMAAJ&printsec=toc#PPP9,M1) (1894)
L'arithmétique amusante (http://books.google.com/books?id=OBgPAAAAIAAJ&printsec=titlepage) (1895)
But I was just looking in the public internet, I don't have access to any academic resources.
I did come across mention of this 1930 dissertation on his work, though, perhaps it would have some leads:
An extended theory of Lucas' functions (http://www.worldcat.org/oclc/13472380/editions?editionsView=true&referer=di), D. H. Lehmer⚛

Many thanks for your help. I know about all those publications.
As a matter of fact, a Second Volume of his Theory of Numbers was in preparation, unfourtunately Edouard Lucas had a bizarre fatal accident and could not publish it.
In the first volume, he promised to make further extensions on some topics, and I eagerly need to find his writings for such second volume.
Many thanks again, for your help.
