Design of Wave generator mechanism

Attached is a drawing of my Proposed mechanism.

Am I right to say the period of the waves could be determined by changing the length of the Rod?

Any comments on the design?

Nice drawing. The length of the rod should alter only the lateral position of the 'flapper'. To change the period, you need to address the speed of the motor, the diameter of the cam, or both.
