View Full Version : Who Said It?

I thought we might try another winner goes next thread like the What Was It? thread started by Wolram. Quote from any great work of literature, any infamously or not cheesy sit-com, the theater, popular movies, PF conversations, or from any source that should be known to some people at least. Whatever really just try to avoid sources so obscure that no one could possibly know or find the answer. I would think the quotes should be as accurate as possible but that mostly accurate should do in most cases. As before I would think that clues are appropriate as needed.

I’ll go first:
They're shooting at the cans!

"Some of God's greatest gifts are unkept campaign promises" -Machiavelli
That would be Machiavelli.

Who said it:

"-then it is a mere matter of time when men will succeed in attaching their machinery to the very wheelwork of nature."

"With God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly".
WKRP; Herb Tarlek.

I think that was one of the funniest sit-com episodes ever. I loved Les's Hindenberg-like disaster reporting on the scene when the turkeys were released from the helicopter.

I saw a special on that once. The director told him to repeat it until the audience stopped laughing. Great scene.

Affirmatory. (<---Can't just say "yes". Have to use a long word because the system won't post messages with less than ten characters.)

That quote was used on a popular TV show. That is the one I am looking for.

This quote is from the Olympic figure skating silver medalist, Nancy Kerrigan - the victim Portland's own Tanya Harding. Kerrigan unintentionally said this loud enough for the microphones to hear while she was in the celebration parade of her success, at Disneyland. What a spoiled little brat.

Next, I bet someone can get this in one word:
Dave

maybe, but that is not the one I was aiming for.

Hint:
The show ran longer than the event in which it is set.

Heisenberg, on Bohr's disagreement over copenhagen interpretation?
I'm pretty sure I read that somewhere..

If so, here's min (Sorry about the quantity.. I just love them)

"OOOOH! INTERCOURSE THE PENGUIN!"

or

"The thing about saying the wrong words is that A, I don't
notice it, and B, sometimes orange water gibbon bucket and
plastic."

or

"His head was about the same size as that of an large dog, that is to say, two very small dogs, or four very
large hamsters, or one medium-sized rabbit, if you count the whole of the body and not just the head."

Apollo 13 was a great movie. I remember that as well as Apollo 1 very clearly.

I am maybe the one person here who has not seen the movie. I can remember the early 1970s though, and it seems like there was a picture taken from inside the command module after the service module separated, and a whole panel had been blown off of the S.M.
