I tried to learn Electric Displacement "D". I think I have fairly understood it. But there's one thing that is nagging me. The quantity "P".

On the link - http://www.daviddarling.info/encyclopedia/E/electric_displacement.html - I read the equation : D = ε0E + P. In this what does "P" stand for?

Please help.

It's usually called the Polarization or the Polarization vector.
