What type of electric motor is most compact and powerfull for its size (in 70 kW range)?
Is there some hope that very powerful, compact, cheap, low voltage DC motor will be ever created?

I'm not sure what you're asking. Electric motors really aren't that expensive and are very efficient. Typically, physical size is not a very important consideration. What is the application?

Low voltage @70kW? What about the current?

Electric vehicles suppose to have very compact and powerful motors for their size and be cheap because there is expansive battery and inventer yet.To work on high-voltage hybrid you need to have special license and bulky equipment.Currently Toyota Prius uses regulary
synchronous AC motor.Voltage is over 500 V.Is there some motors in development which could be even smaller then present AC motors and which could use lower voltage at higher current? It will make electric car safer and easier to handle.Maybe stepper motor or something similar?
