View Full Version : Can anyone advise on the strength of modelling/theory groups in the UK

I am in the fourth year of an MPhys and feel a PhD is the best way to further myself.
I want to apply to groups that specialize in the theory and implementation of computational modelling. I would prefer this to be a group with a wide range across several branches of Physics as opposed to a specialist group on say Cosmology. The reason is that I don't want to end up with many skills in modelling which is my first love, but no ability to cross departments into say engineering if that sparked my interest.

I have an offer from the Southampton ICSS (complexity modelling group) and they are ideal as they cover many basis and have great funding, but I am looking for others to compare with.

Thank's for taking the time to read:

Look into ICL's theory & simulation of materials DTC, from what I've read about it, I think you'd be quite interested.
