Hello,
I had a question for all of you experienced people on here. I'm a freshman in college and I want to make a few bucks. I will probably get a job next semester but I was wondering if any of you knew some ways to make a few dollars on the side. I was thinking about selling things on ebay but the prices on ebay are cheaper than anywhere else so I can't make profit doing that. Any ideas? I'll be happy with like $10 a day because if I just make that much and save it, I'll have $10,000 by the time I graduate from college after three years.

Thanks

I did a lot of private tutoring while in college. I found that there was a never ending shortage of good science and math tutors for both college and high school students. You might check with student services and your local high schools.

Edit: If you do well in chem I, then you can tutor for that while taking Chem II, and so on. This also helps you to learn what you thought that you learned.

How did you charge your students, Ivan? I am thinking of tutoring high school students in mathematics and physics, even though I'm not out of high school yet.

A long time ago...I was usually making $10-$12 per hour, but later up to $15 per hour for the more advanced college classes. .

I don't know what kind of experience you have in sports, but refereeing on weekends brings in a decent amount of money, especially if you're good and move up to the teens and adults. Soccer is very good year round. Outdoor seasons in spring and fall, tournaments all summer, and indoor all winter. The good ones tend to run a lot, though. For adult games as the center ref, you can count on putting in nearly 10 miles in a 90 minute game. I think other sports are more seasonal.

Refereeing also gives you a crash course in learning how to deal with all kinds of different people - some very, very different.

If you know volleyball, that's probably the easiest physically and mentally(they have very strict rules about conduct that almost never seem to be crossed - seperating the two teams by a net seems to make a world of difference).

Badminton, tennis, ping-pong,..., darts, bingo and air-guitaring are easier to referee, if you know the rules.

helpful bit of advice. you can't unshave a beard. Once it is shaved you have to accept the fact. You can stop shaving, not unshave. just like you can't unbreak a glass

I'm constantly getting calls about being a research subject in psychology experiments. All three types of psychologists want me A,B and normal. I have no idea what they see in me, A/B/normal psychology letters get delivered to my mailbox almost everyday.

Our Heath Sciences school was doing a study of muscle fiber. You could sell them tissue, you know, core samples taken with a garden hose, I think several samples at a time for a total of 60 samples over several months, for $1200.

P.S: I guess it was clear that i was trying to say "Do not shave" by saying "unshave" Dont and un have the same "mathematical" value, but used in different types of places...anyhow we are not in the philosphy forum now

It is really a surprising news for me that u people also do this practice. I personally don't like tutoring the students privately. IMO They should gain knowledge from their class teachers in classrooms.

Selling your body for drugs trials is clearly the way to go. I've got friends who have made £2000 in a weekend by lying in bed playing Playstation while they had a placebo pumped through their body. Quids in!
