SUMMARY

The discussion centers on the challenge of extracting modal values from a graph generated by a specific applet for plotting the dependence of modal value and mean with temperature. Users cannot directly read modal values from the graph due to the absence of y-axis values. Instead, they suggest measuring values off the screen with a ruler and calibrating the scroll bars based on known relations to obtain accurate readings.

PREREQUISITES
  • Understanding of modal values in statistics
  • Familiarity with graphical data representation
  • Basic knowledge of calibration techniques
  • Experience using interactive applets for data visualization
NEXT STEPS
  • Research methods for calibrating graphical data from applets
  • Explore statistical software for plotting and analyzing modal values
  • Learn about graphical representation of statistical data
  • Investigate alternative tools for temperature vs. modal value plotting
USEFUL FOR

This discussion is beneficial for students in statistics, educators teaching data visualization techniques, and anyone involved in scientific data analysis using interactive applets.

Homework Statement

Using the applet linked-to below, I would like to plot a graph showing the dependence of the modal value (i.e. position of maximum) and the mean with temperature.

Is it possible to read off modal values? Is there some means by which this can be done as there do not appear to be values on the y-axis for taking such readings.

Welcome to PF, Louise2012!

With an applet like that I don't think you can simply read off values.

If you want to take readings, the best you can do is simply measuring them off your screen with a ruler.

Of course an additional problem is that the ranges of the scroll bars is not given.
So you would have to calibrate them yourself based on known relations.
