View Full Version : The male mind, or what men really think about

The male brain secretes less of the powerful primary bonding chemical oxytocin and less of the calming chemical serotonin than the female brain.

So while women find emotional conversations a good way to chill out at the end of the day, the tired male brain needs to zone out all that touchy-feely chatter in order to relax -- which is why he wants the remote control to zap through "mindless" sport or action movies.

His brain takes in less sensory detail than a woman's, so he doesn't see or even feel the dust and household mess in the same way. Anyhow, the male brain attaches less personal identity to the inside of a home and more to the workplace or the yard -- which is why he doesn't get worked up about housework.

BYW...The guys in this thread might appreciate a lot of these:

We always hear "the rules" from the female side. Now here are the rules from the male side. These are our rules! Please note... these are all numbered "1" ON PURPOSE!

1. Learn to work the toilet seat. You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down.

1. Sunday = sports. It's like the full moon or the changing of the
tides. Let it be.

1. Shopping is NOT a sport. And no, we are never going to think of it that way.

1. Crying is blackmail.

1. Ask for what you want... Let us be clear on this one: Subtle hints do not work! Strong hints do not work! Obvious hints do not work! Just say it!

1. Yes and no are perfectly acceptable answers to almost every
question.

1. Come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it. That's what we do. Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for.

1. A headache that lasts for 17 months is a problem. See a doctor.

1. Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument. In
fact, all comments become null and void after 7 days.

1. If you won't dress like the Victoria's Secret girls, don't expect us to act like soap opera guys.

1. If something we said could be interpreted two ways, and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the other one.

1. You can either ask us to do something or tell us how you want it
done. Not both. If you already know best how to do it, just do it
yourself.

1. Whenever possible, please say whatever you have to say during
commercials.

1. Christopher Columbus did not need directions and neither do we.

1. ALL men see in only 16 colors, like Windows default settings. Peach, for example, is a fruit, not a color. Pumpkin is also a fruit. We have no idea what mauve is.

1. If it itches, it will be scratched. We do that.

1. If we ask what is wrong and you say "nothing," we will act like
nothing's wrong. We know you are lying, but it is just not worth the
hassle.

1. If you ask a question you don't want an answer to, expect an answer you don't want to hear.

1. When we have to go somewhere, absolutely anything you wear is fine. Really.

1. Don't ask us what we're thinking about unless you are prepared to discuss such topics as baseball, the shotgun formation, or monster
trucks.

1. You have enough clothes.

1. You have too many shoes.

1. I am in shape. Round is a shape.

1. Thank you for reading this; Yes, I know, I have to sleep on the
couch tonight, but did you know men really don't mind that, it's like
camping.

On the other hand, women might appreciate THIS:

THE MOODS OF A WOMAN

An angel of truth and a dream of fiction,
A woman is a bundle of contradiction,
She's afraid of a wasp, will scream at a mouse,
But will tackle a stranger alone in the house.
Sour as vinegar, sweet as a rose,
She'll kiss you one minute, then turn up her nose,
She'll win you in rage, enchant you in silk,
She'll be stronger than brandy, milder than milk,
At times she'll be vengeful, merry and sad,
She'll hate you like poison, and love you like mad.

Or ALL the men...
This is very generally speaking of course, if not VERY weak, put in nowadays perspective.

Not just that, they are very nice scientific studies for many men today, giving us all these wonderful reasons to relax.(And women do all the housework and kid-care?) No weird many men look for these studies O_o

I tend to take women sides on these issues. Ignorance pisses me off!

Emotions are important. Someone needs to write a groundbreakingly serious good book about this nowdays.
Or men should read David Hume's Treatise of Human Nature more often.

I'd like to do another propositions by B. Spinoza:

(IV)P18: A desire which arises from joy is stronger, other things equal, than one which arises from sadness.

(IV)P21: No one can desire to be blessed, to act well and to live well, unless at the same time he desires to be, to act, and to live, that is, to actually exist.

(IV)P30: No thing can be evil through what it has in common with our nature; but insofar as it is evil for us, it is contrary to us.

(III)P9: Each thing, as far as it can by its own power, strives to preservere in its being.

(III)P7: The striving by which each thing strives to perservere in its being is nothing but the actual essence of the thing.

(III)P11: The idea of any thing that increases or diminishes, aids or restrains, our body's power of acting, increases or diminishes, aids or restrains, our mind's power of thinking.

(III)P13: When the mind imagines those things that diminish or restrain the body's power of acting, it strives, as far as it can, to recollect things which exclude their existence.

(III)P54: The mind strives to imagine only those things which posit its power of acting

Ignorance.

(III)P55: When the mind imagines its own lack of power, it is saddened by it.

''''' The male mind, or what men really think about ''''''

They think about those things that goes happily with their now self existent nature. Which is obvious looking in this thread. And rather obvious to me also, since I have(had) several female friends.

Scientificly, if you count per-cent, and justifiably, men SHOULD put the seat down. It's as simple as that, because both take a ****, and only 1/4 of the toilet visits need the toilet seat up. Men even forget their precious science and calculations, in trying to fight for their own preserverence.

Can you believe so many of us men choose to live our life so emotionless like this ?
Don't we want to experience life ? Don't you just want to SCREAM of happyness ? So much you can't even explain it in words or express it outside of you ?

Life is more than A to B. Hopefully. Life is a thing in itself. You don't get to see A to B, and enjoy the result afterwards. Live your life now, Carpe Diem.
See life as a mountain, not a road. Forwards is result, upwards is happyness.

Women can't teach us everything.

Even though emotions is just a little part of this issue, I think emotions is not just something that improves your life-quality, but also is something that make things better for people around you.
When your more happy yourself, it makes you more capable, and shines to other people. Start climbing! Make sure you don't fall down, and take down people with you.

I believe it is the perspective of most women in American culture since the advent of the feminist movement. Historically, women have been treated as servants and unequals by men. But I think that the 'man bashing' that has resulted has gone on far too long. Unfortunately, (or maybe fortunately, as humor is a HUGE part of my life) it is all very funny! But if it is to continue (and sadly, I'm afraid it will continue - just look at the way the media - TV, movies, and those God-awful women's magazines - portray relationships), women should be able to take the jokes as well as dish them out and not take them seriously or personally!

people (men & women) need to quit using gender characteristics as a way to insult and just love one another for the person they are...
I completely agree! Unfortunalely, 'the persons that they are' are many time not very nice, and as long as dysfunctionals continue to abuse each other (men and women alike), the 'insults' in the form of gender-bashing will probably continue.

Kerrie- don't take this the wrong way, but what rock have you been hiding under? Women in americana culture nowadays are raised both by parents and society to believe that they are superior, and have the upper hand. They are raised to believe that marriage is only slightly more than a minor convenience which they can step out of at the first sign of trouble, and take half of everything men have. They think if a man is interested in them, it's thier god given right to have him spend tons of money on her in an effort to win her over. The days of the polite, femnine wiles are gone, and have been replaced by a ball busting blonde with a tatoo of herself on her left arm saying "how much money do you make and what can you do for me?" Women don't care about love, it's how much they can take. That is why the divorce rate in the US has skyrocketed to over 60 percent nowadays.

(Yes I'm generalizing, but a large part of this is true)

So with these kinds of attitudes, it makes it very beneficial for a man these days to stay single, and save a lot of wasted time, effort, grief, and MONEY. Remember this men: don't think of what you have to gain, think of what you could loose[g)]

Luckily I found a good woman, and don't have to subject myself to this peril[;)]

Even though I think maybe Kerrie's respond was a little unecessary right now, I think you hope for a little too much.
These ''jokes'' easily leads men into more ignorance imho when done too much, and these jokes affect women, not men.
I think we still got a lot to learn from women. And men coming with the most absurd comments. Sadly, social changes happens slowly.

Zantra, I don't know how women really are over where you live. But women here are 'generally' very different from what you describe there.
In fact, reading from your reply, you sound very women-enmious imo.

Women has necessarily arisen, and it's causing a lot of mess. But we can hardly blame anyone for this mess we're into because they've arisen from the corner we have forcen them into for centuries.
If so, we blame ourself.

But then again, I don't know how much this really has to do with how women and men are now to marriage. From what I see men are at least as guilty of putting relationships back in there for priorities, as women are at somehow force-marrying men.

And as for love, imho I think men have more the tendency to throw themself harder into the hard-boiled passion of love when their first into it, than women today. Though I think women does it far more often. Who knows, who has the record ? [g)]
And now I'm not even counting all the murders and war started by men.

(hey, btw, we have the same birthday! [:D] )

Of course I'm not referring to ALL women. If all women were really like that, I'd be single. It's just a prevailing attitude that I've noticed from when I was in the dating scene in the not too distance past. I do live in the US- I'm not saying anything about other countries. It may not be a spoken truth, but the undertones are ripe with these attitudes.

As far as history, and us backing them into corners. That doesn't fly because women of the gen-x and gen-y generations have grown up in a very equalitarian society where women can do anything that men can do with no limitations. Does that mean it's 100 percent across the board equality? No but we're getting there. Women want to be independent nowadays, but it's at the cost of children who are latchkey kids, and getting that Beamer.

I'm very pro-equality. I'm also pro family. And the attitudes that SOME women have are very detrimental to family values. I'm not going on a woman bashing spree, I'm just pointing out some of the contributing factors to the decline in 2 parent families in the US. I also acknowledge that it's not a one sided issue. Men are equally to blame.

But I agree today it may seem sometimes men aren't worth anything, we gotto fight for ourself too. Only try make it justifiable, or sensible.

Luckily I found a good woman, and don't have to subject myself to this peril[;)]

if you found a good woman, then how come you have started this thread and you claim she doesn't read it? i agree some women are hideous in their treatment to men more so then they used to be, but men don't have to take it either [;)] matter of fact, one of my female relatives (the closest one a person can have) is very much dominating of her husband...i feel this is wrong, so why does he stay and hate her just the same? if a man has a woman who treats him like crap, he doesn't have to stay with her anymore then a woman doesn't have to stay with a man who treats her like a second class citizen PERIOD

now, i will speak for what you are advocating, because quite honestly, i think women today have gotten a large chip on their shoulder...i think the feminist movement has caused a huge ego trip for women in america, and we need to excercise our right for equality (voting, occupational pay, human rights, etc), however, it does not give us the right to be chauvenistic, and that is exactly what this attitude of many women is....CHAUVENISM...one thing i feel is completely true is a woman's ego is 10 times worse then a male ego...

my suggestion to men who deal with a woman like this? stand up to her without disrespecting her, be chivalrous and expect her to be a lady...

personally, i feel you are directing your disgruntles in the wrong place, as there aren't many women here in PF (esp. in this thread) who can give you their feelings on the situation, so of course most men here will agree with you because that is what a majority of the PF members are...perhaps you can try posting your feelings in a woman's forum?...[:D]

We have all made some excellent points here.
Kerrie - more love and compassion, less battle of the sexes - YES!
Zantra - many women of today HAVE been trained to be ball-busters by their feminist mothers whose husbands left them for a younger woman, or WHATEVER reason... but not ALL of them.
Pace - yes, men are, in part, to blame for the poor treatment of women (historically, speaking) - but I feel many world religions are to blame as well. Think about how hindu, muslim and even extreme christian religions teach men to treat their women and the laws that have been established because of this. Even not-so-extreme christian women are taught that, if they are to live by the bible, women must be subservient to their husbands. Granted men are supposed to be treating their wives with love and compassion, too, by nature of women being the 'weaker' (physically) sex - but these teachings have gone awry in BOTH men and women in today's societies.
Me - these 'jokes' have not come about just by chance. There IS a modicom of truth in most of them - or they wouldn't be so dang funny!

The fact remains - how we are raised greatly determines how we treat one another. Also, exposure to 'outside' stimuli has much affect on us, as well. Consider Tammy Wynette's 'Stand by Your Man', or Pat Benatar's 'I Want a Lover Who Won't Drive Me Crazy' ('someone to thrill me and just go away'[:D]). And TV (The Burning Bed), movies (The War of the Roses), it goes on and on! How can we not be subconsciously affected by the media?

Now, let's quit bickering and get back on topic - The Male Mind
("What's up with THAT?"[:D] "WHAT mind?"[:D] "In which 'head'?"[:D] "Now there's an oxymoron for ya!" [:D]) Dang! Sorry guys! I just can't help myself!! ANYTHING is fodor for a good laugh. NOTHING is sacred!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Opps. Sorry, again. [:D] I, personally think both set of jokes (men's AND women's) are just hysterical!!! Sorry if anyone has a problem with that - but that' how I are!

Ok perhaps I came off a little harsh kerrie. And I wasn't directing this at any woman in particular. Would also like to point out as tsunami did, that all women are NOT like this-if that wasn't clear in my post. There are some very wonderful, caring, and understanding women out there. A lot actually. I wasn't intending to bash all women, so I'll just suffice it to say that these are only my opinions, not directed at anyone in particular, and not meant to characterize every woman, but these types of women do exist.

As far as my girl- she would agree with me, and no she doesn't read PF, as it's not her thing.

That being said, yes men have a 1 track mind, but at least we're easy to figure out and aren't unreasonable[;)]

haha, i think this is a great thread yall have going here. I personally like the whole battle of the sexes thing. no sex can really win anyways, it's like apples and oranges, but its still fun battling it out. Its even more fun watching you people, who i respect and think of as intelligent adults, going at it.

My personal opinion: Men are playthings. Meant to be toyed with, teased, and used for pleasure. If they aren't pleasing, get rid of him, one women's trash is another's treasure. Sex is the easiest way to control any man, and every man can be controlled by sex. It doesn't matter if a guy has a mind, more often than not, he won't use it. When he does happen to use it, its a completely different ball game.

Interesting interesting. So you're one of THOSE girls.. hehe. It may surprise you to learn that there are guys out there who share the same views on women. One viewpoint I've heard on women(and I don't share this viewpoint) is that women are as driven by money, or the illusion of it, as men are by sex, and in that way can be equally as controllable as men. And I would venture to say that although we love to joke about it, the one track mind sex thing applies only to men under 25. Personally, there are lots of fish in the sea(men and women). So it's much easier to deal with someone without an agenda for me.

Each relationship has a dominant and recessive personality. Even if two people are "dominant", someone will ultimately be the decisionmaker. And thus the power struggle ensues. And when two dominant personalities meet, it can be a fireball, to say the least;) That being said, I don't think men are anymore playthings then women are. I think you'll see it as less of a "game" the older you get. Men and women ultimately have the same basic needs, we just get there in different ways. But more power to ya sistah!

PS Gale, if you're really 17, aren't you a bit young to be using sex as a weapon?[;)]

Be careful using the term 'nature'.

Either it's 'nature', or it's 'society'.

Naturalistic explanation is when you say it's born in.

What you reason is society. Our situation in child days affect us.
And I agree.

But what happens when the gender issues slowly changes ? And it will.
When we men more take care of children, as we well should. And women more to work, as they well should.
What then ? Society changes.

What is it that we actually find attractive in the opposite sex ?

And if some of these ideas crash hard in morals of society, are these destorying but attractive things really worth struggling to keep ?
As we move on, don't we continually find new things we find attractive in the opposite sex anyway ?

This is so sad. Men are not playthings, nor are women. The perceived "control" you have over a man's sexual desires are still *entirely* dependent on his attraction to you, not vice versa. This, IMO, is not much control at all. At the same time, you are sacrificing your own body (as well as time and energy) just to have a little control over another person - that's really sad.

I agree with the statement that if they aren't pleasing, they should (most likely) go, although I probably agree for different reasons.

By the way, not every man can be controlled by sex.

The rest of this thread is so sexist it makes me nauseous. The main problem is that these ideas that men are one-dimensional and women are irrational keep being perpetuated in the name of humor but are actually quite demeaning to both genders and allow people to feel it's "OK" to fit into certain stereotypes. In some cases, people think it's OK to emulate them.

I'm aware that I can be a bit idealistic about gender relations but I think changing ones perspective is the only way to begin gaining true equality - the problem is, despite what some people say, they don't actually want it.

I just hate those guys who hang out in bars and are hanging around every woman's neck claiming to be her saviour.

Macho behaviour is the biggest turn off. I like sensitive man, who will cry when emotions run too high. Who will tell me not to be angry, because his bloodpressure just became very high by me being upset. That is what I want, but I guess I'm doomed never to find someone like that again in this society..

Now this is a more realistic view of men women and sex. Yes there are men out there who will say and do anything to get laid. But I'd venture to say none of them surf these boards (or maybe I'm expecting too much?;). Gale is bottom line, a young person, and will no doubt find the world a bit more complexed as she gets older.

EDIT: I have to admit Gale's statement really bothers me. It's generally false, but the sad fact is that there are actual mature women out there who have this same embittered, sadistic outlook on men and dating. I pity them more than anything, because someone with this kind of attitude generally has self esteem issues. But it is also this kind of attitude which gives the good women a bad name.

We now return you to our regularly broadcasted fun.

I pity them more than anything, because someone with this kind of attitude generally has self esteem issues. But it is also this kind of attitude which gives the good women a bad name.

We now return you to our regularly broadcasted fun.

Keep in mind that this thread is bashing both men and women, and it's all in good fun. Men and women both have thier pros and cons, and despite what gale may believe, no one is perfect. We have to be able to laugh at ourselves occassionally or we loose perspective.

just my 2 cents....
I fully agree with everything you said here, Zantra. We are only having a little fun in an all-too-serious world. With all the cr*p going on out in the world, we need to take time to appreciate the humor of humanity.
Also, as funny as I thought Gales post was (and I'll be the first to admit my approach to humor has gotten me in trouble way more than once!), I have to wonder what caused her (AND others who feel this way - women AND MEN alike) to take this position and attitude.
GALE! There truly are lots of really good men out there! Take the time to get to know them REAL WELL before you jump their bones. O'Tay? It will be far more worth it in the long run. There is absolutely nothing in the world like true love and the expression of it!

I agree with you here. While I would not want to put her down by claiming she's immature, the fact is, that kind of mentality is the hallmark of an emotionally underdeveloped mind. How applicable that is to a certain age range is debateable. I've known plenty of so-called adults who think the same way.

I don't really pity them although I do think it's a sad state of affairs. It's a reactionary view of the world and is not actually based on how one wants to really live their life. If you want to just have meaningless sex with people, that can be done without hurting the opposite sex and/or without having to use them or deceive them about your intentions. The same can, of course, be said for men who have been employing these tactics for longer than women. However, I don't think a reactionary method is the best course of action in any situation, much less as it applies to gender relations. I'm hoping it won't last very long since it appears to be women lashing out. Most people can't hold a grudge for too long and that kind of behavior is emotionally draining and not as satisfying as one would believe. It's also bad for your karma, if you believe in that kind of thing. [;)]

I don't see why bashing men and women should be considered fun.. I admit to being more sensitive about these issues than a lot of other people, but the stereotypes involved reduce people to nothing.

Ok...

yes it was my birthday, thanks, no i'm not 18, the day i created this sn i became 17 for life...[;)]

yes zantra... i'm one of THOSE girls

Galatea:
don't get too upset. Jokes are meant to be funny... as in haha...
i do not sacrifice my body or time or energy or whatever. on weekends instead of playing tag or ring-around-the-rosie, i seduce guys for kicks, just my version of fun. [:D] Oh, and yeah, every man my age can be controlled by sex, you just need to make em realize it first....

Monique:
Yes, many of my relationships are about control. But thats just because i have different relations than most. I don't even date guys or have boyfriends, and when i do, its not a control thing. A real relationship is different, and those are few and far between. Until one of those comes a long, i can't taunt, tease, and toy all i want, long as i'm not hurting anyone, or myself. I don't involve myself in serious relationships, just fun one's, so there's no harm in a little power.

oh and zantra- don't be too disturbed by me, yeah i'm just a kid, but i'm intelligent, informed, and i mean no harm [t)] promise. I know there's women out there who are that sadistic, but i'm not. Sides, there's pleanty of guys like that too. Everything balances out.

Tsunami:
i can tell you why some people have that attitude. We're hedonists. The whole world is our plaything! I myself think that there's more to life- love or whatever, but right now that doesn't matter. For some though, they're just ignorant, and can't see past their good time at all.

I'm a teenager, i'm not crazy. I know that there's great guys out there, somewhere, and i'd like a nice sensitive cryer myself, (actually i seem to have a think for geeks and nerds...) but i'm just not worried about finding them yet. Love isn't an issue for me, i'm a kid, that stuff's too serious, why complicate things?? right now, i'm having fun, someday i'll straighten up and fly right... and if not... guys beware!! [;)]

oh, and i dunno if anyone's really said so, but men and women aren't so un-alike anyways. people are people. human is human. i don't actually even see a huge difference when it comes to gender, women are my playthings too! heh... i just don't think they're as fun...pms and all....

I didn't mean to imply that gale was immature(ok maybe I did) I think she's right where she should be for her age. When I was 17 I was immature- I'll be the first to admit that. And I was twice as cocky [:D]. God to be 17 again /sigh

And you're right. I know plenty of older men who are just as immature, if not moreso. Point taken.

It's not so much fun as it is teasing- in a good way. I can respect that you're sensitive to these issues, but seeing as how it's a general teasing, and not directed at you, you shouldn't take offense.

Yes 17 year old boys are full of hormones(as are 17 year old girls). There's no harm in fun as long as it's in good taste and not used as deception. Galtea says that that's just the mark of a young mind. Myself, I see it as a pattern of a larger problem. I could go into trust issues, and fear of intimacy, as well as trauma induced fear, but I won't.

When I was 17, if a girl played games, I (and all my friends for that matter) would just say not worth it and go after the girl's friend- maybe times have changed *shrug*. But I also would like to point out that while these kinds of games are "fun", it can also be a pathway to getting raped, if you pick the wrong guy to mess with. Weather it's PC to say or not, it's the truth. Just something you should bear in mind..

I didn't say you were a kid, I said you were young- there's a difference. Yes there are guys like that too. That doesn't make it right. I'm all for free expression, and exploring, and finding yourself. But what you portray is bitterness, which is upsetting.

Just make sure you still can respect yourself when it's all said it done. Deeds born out of malice, bitterness, hatred, and deciet may seem rewarding, but ultimately leave you empty. They are negative thoughts, and thus cannot bring positive results.

Hmm.. Ok I can see this isn't going well. *digs hole even deeper*. I'm not trying to insult you, and I'm not trying to be condescending(ok so far that part hasn't been too sucessful). What I am trying to impress upon you is that your view of men as objects isn't necessarily the most positive one. I acknowledge that some men are guilty of this crime as well, and it's not right in either case. While Karma may allow that because some poor girl is being tread upon, you're allowed to counteract it by doing the same to some poor guy with good intentions. Because believe me, some guys deserve what they get, but the guys you will most likely be interacting with will be innocent in thier own right. The long and short is that 2 wrongs don't make a right.

Let me try a different approach. What was that one movie with gwenyth Paltrow where that boy grew up with her, became a famous artists, lusting after her, only to be left hanging, because gwenyth's bitter aunt wanted revenge for being left at the alter? In the end, gwenyth hates herself.

Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but people don't develop the philosophy you have naturally. It's learned. Weather through personal experience or being taught by others, it's not something you just know.

But already I've said too much, so we'll let it rest

Nah. We don't thing you're bad. At least I don't. I don't think I (or anyone else, for that matter) am in any position to judge anyone. (There's way too damn much of THAT going around these days.) But, I can't speak for anyone else. Personally, what I know of you, I LIKE - you're a NUT! [:D] I have been through my hedonistic phase as well. I think it's pretty natural - especially when you're young. This was way before AIDS, however. And being the intelligent young woman that you are, I ASSUME you're taking the proper precautions! (I've watched numerous of my patients die from AIDS and it TRULY sucks.) Sorry to sound like a mom. I don't have any kids of my own so I have this semi-occcasional need to 'mom' someone - and my critters don't listen to me anymore. [:D] They have all discovered the benefits of selective hearing. (They can't hear a loud 'NO' - but, boy, can they hear the fridge open from the other side of the house!) Anyway, be YOU! And as Zantra ('dad'?) pointed out - be CAREFUL! [:D]

When he does happen to use it, its a completely different ball game.

don't get too upset. Jokes are meant to be funny... as in haha... i do not sacrifice my body or time or energy or whatever. on weekends instead of playing tag or ring-around-the-rosie, i seduce guys for kicks, just my version of fun. This is soooo sad it is funny. Reality check: Not every teenage male can be controlled by sex (seriously, it is not that hard to get sex). You are not in a position of power in these types of relationships! There seems to be this notion (I call it "MTV Liberalism") that females are challenging the sexual status quo by taking on the cliché male role. It simply isn't true. Progress is not made in so much as changing the way people act as it is in altering the way they view those actions, and believe me (as a male who knows many other males) your mantra of sexual power only fuels male dominance, it plays into the already existing inequalities.

Maybe that says a lot about society's changes that are taking place in regards to male/female interaction. With the advent of the "metrosexual", males are taking on a more "sensitive" role, while "liberated" females are attempting to take on the traditional male outlook. Personally I feel that it's so far been an abysmal failure. Each side is taking these role reversals to the etreme, so you end up with a bunch of pseudo-gay men, and assertive women who end up alienating males with thier man-like behavior. I mean, as a man, I want to be with someone who acts like a woman-If I wanted to date a man, I'd turn gay[;)] And I'm sure women get tired of dating men who sob at the drop of a hat and have better fashion sense than they do.

ps. It's strange to see how many female security guards around in my city, it looks like it's becoming more females than men. I guess women feel more social secure than men, and our town isn't very dangerous either.
It's just so strange seeing so many female security guards. It's almost as you wanna do a crime just so they're gonna come and get you! [:D]

In the news soon it's gonna stand something like this:

" Strong increase in female security guards "

and some pages below:

" There have been reported 1000% increase in shoplifting. The Major is very disturbed in that seemingly all sorts of men in all ages have begun drasticly stealing clumsily all sorts of small candy bars and newspapers. "
Then there's some picture in action of a guy taken down by a female security guard smiling harmoniously like he won the lottery.

And I would love to be as supportive to her as she would be to me.

well, i'd like a woman with a sense of humor and a nice body. intelligent yet playful. a girl i can relate to, but has a lot of new and exciting experiences to relate to. plus it wouldn't hurt if she could work it in the bedroom...

...oh wait you weren't talking to me??

This is soooo sad it is funny. Reality check: Not every teenage male can be controlled by sex (seriously, it is not that hard to get sex). You are not in a position of power in these types of relationships! There seems to be this notion (I call it "MTV Liberalism") that females are challenging the sexual status quo by taking on the cliché male role. It simply isn't true. Progress is not made in so much as changing the way people act as it is in altering the way they view those actions, and believe me (as a male who knows many other males) your mantra of sexual power only fuels male dominance, it plays into the already existing inequalities.

Hi RageSk8,

I couldn't agree with you more. While I'm all about empowering females, I don't think that emulating traditionally male behavior that people look down upon is going to earn anyone any points. And fine, maybe it isn't about winning points but it's certainly about gaining respect - for yourself as well as women in general. The only bonus I can see to this behavior is that it's such an obviously flawed way of thinking that perhaps it will wake people up to the idiocy of it.

I also think it can be referred to as third wave feminism - it seems like the basic premise of it is that anything a woman does is a feminist move. As I read somewhere once, "Third wave feminism is so f*cking easy..."

This kind of behavior is sad though. Don't know what else to say about it. I've never known anyone who did this kind of thing as a teenager that was thankful in their later years. In fact, most of them ended up in dysfunctional relationships and pregnant. 'Tis a shame.
