out of curiousity, when do "most" people do calculus? when do they start?

"Most" people start as college freshman. Brighter students take advanced placement calculus in high school (senior year).

It really depends where you are.
In Belgium, precalculus is taught in the fourth year of secondary school. The last two years are devoted to calculus.

Partial Derivatives
Integration
Simple differential equations

I'm quite sure that in most other European countries this is also required knowledge for most students.
