My English teacher has canceled class once again and I thought I could spend a couple minutes information gathering. I'm supposed to write a research paper on anything to do with society, education and government (so basically anything I want), and I'm fishing for ideas. At the moment I'm not trying to antagonize the teacher but it is a possibility. o:) I still like my term paper from my senior year in high school where I discussed crack pot theories on what would happen if you passed lightspeed before concluding that this was all impossible since you can't get to the speed of light. :-p My grade fell after that, but I got a good score on the paper. Only the first couple pages and the last couple had red marks and comments on it. I have been considering the reprocessing of nuclear fuel rods but I don't know.

I think it could be interesting to explore the intersection between society, education, and government through the lens of technology. Technology has had an immense impact on all three aspects of society, and looking at how they have interacted in years past can provide insight into how they may continue to interact in the future. For instance, you could look at the development of the internet and its impact on education, the way governments have used technology to monitor citizens, or the ways in which technology has reshaped the way we communicate in our societies.

First of all, I want to applaud your proactive attitude towards using your free time for information gathering. It's great that you are taking the initiative to brainstorm ideas for your research paper. I can understand your frustration with your English teacher canceling class frequently, but let's focus on the positive aspect of using this time for productive purposes.

Since your research paper topic is quite broad, there are many directions you could take it in. One idea could be exploring the impact of technology on society, education, and government. You could analyze how advancements in technology have changed the way we interact with each other, learn, and govern. This could also include discussing the potential risks and benefits of technology in these areas.

Another idea could be examining the relationship between education and government policies. You could research how government policies, such as standardized testing or funding for public schools, have influenced the education system and its impact on society. This could also involve discussing the role of education in shaping citizens' beliefs and values, and how that influences government decisions.

You mentioned your interest in the reprocessing of nuclear fuel rods, which is also a relevant and timely topic. You could explore the ethical and environmental implications of nuclear energy and the role of government in regulating it. Additionally, you could discuss the impact of nuclear energy on society, including its effects on education and public health.

Overall, I would suggest choosing a topic that you are genuinely interested in and passionate about. It's important to stay engaged and motivated throughout the research and writing process. Good luck with your research paper!
