Understanding Closed Circuits & Batteries

SUMMARY

A closed circuit is essential for batteries to function as it allows electrons to flow continuously. When the circuit is open, the physical disconnection prevents the flow of electricity, halting electron movement. This fundamental principle of electrical circuits is critical for understanding how batteries operate in various applications.

PREREQUISITES
  • Basic understanding of electrical circuits
  • Knowledge of electron flow and conductivity
  • Familiarity with battery types and their functions
  • Concept of open vs. closed circuits
NEXT STEPS
  • Research the principles of Ohm's Law and its application in circuits
  • Explore different types of batteries and their discharge characteristics
  • Learn about circuit design and the importance of continuity
  • Investigate common applications of closed circuits in electronics
USEFUL FOR

Students, educators, and hobbyists interested in electronics, electrical engineering, and battery technology will benefit from this discussion.

Why the circuit must be closed to let the batteries send out electrons? If the circuit is opened, why do the batteries stop sending out electrons?

Because wires must be touching for electricity to flow from one to the other... Is this a serious question?
