We are are working on some coordination compounds of imino-oximino ligands. Some of the cobalt(II) complexes are revealing room temperature magnetic moments around 1.8 to 2.3 B.M. Their visible spectra are revealing broad symmetrical bands around 18 to 20 kK,23to 25 kK the pyridine adduct of one of the complexes also reveals an additional band(shoulder) at 12.5 kK I feel uncertain about using this much information to ascertain a precise geometry for these complexes. May I seek your guidance on evaluations of ligand field parameters for strong field Co(II) octahedral or square planar complexes? Is their some more work that may be done to arrive at a proper conclusion in this regard?
