Conservation of angular momentum

Hi,
I am by now very used to the concept of conservation of momentum and energy, however i had never solved a problem using the conservation of angular momentum.
Well, in the case where angular momentum is conserved, we do not have a torque net. But, how this conservation law helps us to determine quantitatively ?
Could you illustrate the concept with an example?
Thank you very much.
