so is chike obo proof of fermat's last theorem
in 1994, as most of you know, andrew wiles was the first to solve fermat's last theorem.. 3 years later chike obo claimed he solved it using only what fermat knew... and was a elementary proof
was his proof correct.../ or was it deemed false |

A review of this proof published in Mathematical Reviews claims that Obi's proof is a previously-known false proof.[wiki] Fermat’s Last Theorem had already been solved in 1994 by Andrew Wiles and Richard Taylor.
The review below, of Chike Obi's 10 page solution to Fermat's Last Theorem, was printed in Mathematical Reviews This is a naive attempt to prove Fermat's last theorem using techniques known only in Fermat's days. This time the error is on the bottom of page 292. The author states that some numbers, having nothing to do with the equation, satisfy $a\sb 0\sp 2+b\sb 0\sp 2=c\sb 0\sp 2$. The conclusion is that a certain case of Fermat's last theorem is solved. Using this technique one could prove any conjecture made in mathematics. Reviewed by F. Beukers |

The name is Chike Obi.
His proof has been reviewed and has been shown to be false by mathematicians. The following is a (very short) review of the proof: http://www.math.buffalo.edu/mad/PEEP...at-review.html Please do not start anymore threads on this. |
