Man Puts Toddler in Washing Machine and Turns it On

A Phoenix, Ariz., woman put her 5-week-old baby on top of her car in his car seat and drove away, apparently forgetting he was there, not even noticing when the seat fell off the car and landed in an intersection, police said.

Neighbors discovered the baby on the roadway, still strapped to his safety seat, which was lying on its side. Luckily, the baby was unhurt.

The baby's mother, 19-year-old Catalina Clouser, who allegedly had been smoking marijuana, was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence and child abuse, police said.

The mother of the gas can in the baby seat claims it was her son that climbed out of the saet by himself and then strapped himself in next to it, and that her passenger strapped the gas can into the car seat after the police stopped them.

Shouldn't the social workers keep a little eye on what kind of things parents are into?

Children found blindfolded, bound at Kan. Walmart

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Police say two children from suburban Chicago who were found bound and blindfolded outside a Kansas Walmart are in temporary protective custody.

Lawrence police spokesman Trent McKinley says the presumed parents of the children have been arrested on suspicion of child abuse and endangerment and will appear in court Thursday.

Police found a 5-year-old boy Wednesday sitting beside a large SUV with his hands tied and a blindfold over his eyes. A bound and blindfolded 7-year-old girl was inside the vehicle, along with three other children, ages 12, 13 and 15. All are in protective custody.

The family, from Northlake, Ill., was heading to Arizona when the vehicle broke down Monday in Lawrence.
