A high school level book with lots of pretty pictures and diagrams.
Contains many references to Scientific American, whose style is somewhat similar.
Although it offers very little in the way of substantiation the reader can be pretty confident that all the statements have been well verified by scientists and the scientific method.

Very good for what it does for scientific general knowledge.
