Ok, I'm currently using this POS Calculus book By Johnston and Mathews(Addision Wesley). I'm in calc III and my teacher doesn't even use this book. HE said it's a pretty much a POS, and all of our homework is a combination of problems from other books(I think manily Stewards). The only reason I have this is b/c I took calc II at this school and we used it for this. So, now I need a good textbook. I think he said they were using Stewards Calculus or something like that before.(They just switched to this book and I'm in the first set of calc III classes to use it)Is this a decent one(the steward one)? I was looking online and for the newest edditon it's liek 100+ bucks. I was also looking at one edition(4th) and there pretty much giving them away. Also does anyone know about REA's Calculus solver book? Is this a good buy.

Thanks

older editions are always better and almost always cheaper.

I like Wiley books, do they make a good Calc book?

the best calc book in the world is a wiley book, by courant, but it is so good it is very expensive. the alternate version by courant and john is only half as expensive and almost as good.

Got an ISBN for it?

Those are new paper backs.

well no. what is calc III? there are two volumes to courant. .one vbl is vol 1 which i gave you numbers for,
that covers diff and integ of one vbl, infinite serties, Fourier series, applications.

vol 2 is for several variables, calc of variations, diff and integ of several vbls, stokes thm, and a little complex vbl at the end. you will find both volumes if you look though.

if you only want several vbls you might look at the little book of spivak also, calculus on manifolds, and the book of fleming, functiuons of several vbls, but courant is the all time classic.

well there are two different questions here. do you want to learn the material or do you want a book that suits your particular course? the material described in your course catalog below is treated thoroughly in courant volume 2, but you might ask your prof how it suits his goals for the course.

MATH 0201 CALCULUS III
4 cr.
A continuation of MATH 0150. The topics included are space geometry and vectors, vector analysis of curves, differential and integral calculus of several variables, applications of partial derivatives, divergence, Green’s and Stokes’ theorems, and differential equations.

Well I mean I'm also looking for some good aids. Soo i guess that book could fall into that category, but i need a good textbook
