(mechanical engeneering vs computer engeneering)

AI Thread Summary
The discussion centers on the perceived relevance of mechanical engineering compared to computer engineering, sparked by a first-year student's research assignment. The student expresses a long-standing passion for computer engineering but feels societal pressure to view mechanical engineering as inferior. Participants highlight that mechanical engineering remains vital, as it underpins the technology used in computer engineering. They argue that both fields are essential and interdependent, with mechanical engineering being an "evergreen" discipline. The conversation emphasizes the importance of both branches in advancing technology and innovation.

hi my name is ehab I am a first year collage student in damascuse university our computer
programming professer ask us to do a research obout computers and technology so I choose a research that is considaring me from a long long time (who is better scientifically and is that really true that the time of our old mechanical engneering has gone and every new research will be about computers and communication technology).
my child dream was being a computer engeneer so that i can touch with all new technology that i love very much but some certain issues make me to choose a lower section(i don't think its lower I am saying what the pepole think in my country) so i was thinking and asking my self always did i choose the right section or i lost my only chance to make an invetion or a new research of my own.
anyway I dare some of my friends in computer engeering that our engenners are smareter and can do a better and even more modern search than them now i need everyones help to finish this vs between computer engeneering and our old fashion mechanical engeneering and have an answer of my question are the new research in mechanical engneering have really end?? i need every comment possible to complete my research! thanks for every one.

by the way...even the device u use to program is manufactured...in one way or other with use of Mech Engg ...they call it Ever Green Branch :)

Thread 'Turbocharging carbureted petrol 2 stroke engines'
Hi everyone, online I ve seen some images about 2 stroke carbureted turbo (motorcycle derivation engine). Now.. In the past in this forum some members spoke about turbocharging 2 stroke but not in sufficient detail. The intake and the exhaust are open at the same time and there are no valves like a 4 stroke. But if you search online you can find carbureted 2stroke turbo sled or the Am6 turbo. The question is: Is really possible turbocharge a 2 stroke carburated(NOT EFI)petrol engine and...
I need some assistance with calculating hp requirements for moving a load. - The 4000lb load is resting on ball bearing rails so friction is effectively zero and will be covered by my added power contingencies. Load: 4000lbs Distance to travel: 10 meters. Time to Travel: 7.5 seconds Need to accelerate the load from a stop to a nominal speed then decelerate coming to a stop. My power delivery method will be a gearmotor driving a gear rack. - I suspect the pinion gear to be about 3-4in in...
