The following diagram shows an electric device that uses some of the principles discussed in this lesson.

Discuss the sequence of events that occur when switch 1 is closed.

Current flows through the circuit, coming out of the positive terminal in circuit 1, hitting the metal which is wrapped around a coil, this would create a strong magnetic field , which would then act upon the 2nd circuit. This then immediately closes the 2nd switch, the current in the 2nd circuit can then flow.

Is this what happens? If not can someone please tell me what happens then?
