Does Mathematica run faster on linux than on windows?

Mathematica, as well as matlab, can run faster signficantly faster on linux than on windows. Here is some benchmarks:

They got the most performance from gentoo linux, but if your new I wouldn't suggest it. SUSE linux is a good distro to start out with.
