News Would You Prioritize Sex or Oil in Political Leadership?
Do people want a job and the basics for survival? If you are destitute, who gives a damn about sex? Besides, sex can be obtained fairly easily at no charge, even for homeless people. On a serious note, the effects of Clinton's infidelity versus Bush's invasion of Iraq can't be compared.- 2CentsWorth

News Is Katrina Damage Attributable to Bush and FEMA?
You are correct that this can be a double-edge sword, but let's make comparisons within an administration. Bush's approval ratings rocketed to something like 90% right after 9-11 due to perception of good leadership -- because he has an office in a room in a building in Washington, when in...- 2CentsWorth

News Would You Prioritize Sex or Oil in Political Leadership?
Really, what this gets back to is the earlier discussion of whether one is a social conservative (and sees infidelity to be a great crime) or a fiscal conservative (and sees self-serving agendas that result in record deficits) and what you feel has more negative impact. Obviously the pro big...- 2CentsWorth

News Should the Confederate Flag be considered a symbol of heritage or hate?
Since the south wanted to secede from the union, I agree it is a symbol of treason and not just about states rights. I say let the ignorant rednecks split off and lose the economic benefits of the Union and see how they like it.- 2CentsWorth

News How has the Bush presidency affected your political views?
Ditto on this. However the affect of an action is just as important to me if not more. Returning to the popular comparison of Clinton going through the impeachment process for lying, the lie did not result in the high cost of lives and to the detriment of economic well being for Americans as...- 2CentsWorth

News How the Republicans washed out under Katrina
If the public is made more aware? These riders attached to bills, or giving themselves a raise in the wee hours of the night, or what DeLay did to siphon funds in his direction... You would think they would be ousted. From the link, here are the names of our trustworthy congressmen:- 2CentsWorth

Why do you presume to know what Ivan meant? Where have you read that Kerry supporters didn't care about the popular vote (source please)? News Bill Maher's amusing open letter to the president
I can see where this thread is going...so I'll stop it right here. It seems that all people do is bash Bush. He is the best president we have ever had--you'll see some day. (Ha, just kidding!)- 2CentsWorth

News Why is reciting the pledge of allegiance in schools controversial?
The "under God" was added to the pledge long after the founding of our nation. Though "God" is a generic reference, I agree it should not be compulsory because many Americans are agnostic and of course some are atheist. People are getting tired of the religious right pushing their personal...- 2CentsWorth

Americans are too isolated from world opinion, in large part due to our controlled media. It's good to see a program like that, and I wish there were more.- 2CentsWorth

News Can Oakland Survive a Disaster Without Federal Aid?
To me it is definitely of a discriminatory nature. It sounds like there was fear that looting would spread, fair enough, but it was mostly women and children and some disabled folks (according to the person interviewed). I can't believe there wasn't a school or some place the people could have...- 2CentsWorth
