Use of Nuclear power in space exploration.

Its not mirrors, mirrors don't reflect light the abosrb large quantities of it, these being the ones you would see youre reflection in. I am proposing highly reflective surface like milar, which reflet 97% + of the light that hits it. The idea of haveing a laser on bored the ship, is to...

Compact Fusion Reactor: High Potential Difference Effects

digital ranger Can you elaborate on your idea it seems similar to an idea of mine. By the way if you dope the water for the steam turbine with boron it can act as both a neutron absorber and as a working medium

Has anyone measured the light intensity given off in a fusion reactor?

Ok so what exatly is the sigma value for breakeven again, its not something I've memorized. But anyway the fusion reactor keep only one spherical grid in the chamber positavaly charge the pressure vessel. Negativaly charge the inner grid place small torridial electromagnets on the grid through...

Use of Nuclear power in space exploration.

NO NO NO. Through realtavistic physics photons can exert a force when reflected but the force generated by fireing a laser in the oppisite direction is neal to non (i read some where its like 300 Mw for 1 Newton of thrust useing photon ejection out the rear of a vessel). Second off i under...

What Could a Fusion 'Breakeven' Reactor Look Like?

I argue we can D+T reaction has the lowest cross section through clever electrical engenering and the use of the most easly fused isotopes we can easly generate net power.

Has anyone measured the light intensity given off in a fusion reactor?

I agree that the reactor needs to be designed to be as eefient as possible at sustaining fusion at the lowest amount of input power. Yet what about the other end, the out put in over simplicated terms is it not possible through the use of electrical deffices to jump a set of batteries voltages...

What Could a Fusion 'Breakeven' Reactor Look Like?

Youve stated in A heat needs to be sufficent enough to sustian fusion, so how many eV per barn would you say is break even (though i must point out now that i think about it i think youre thinking on a more thermonuclear fusion basses, and I am thinking on a more inertial electrostatic...

What Could a Fusion 'Breakeven' Reactor Look Like?

Well youre stateing heat, so i assume youre talking about the average energy conatined with in said matter. So how many eV do you suppose i need?

Has anyone measured the light intensity given off in a fusion reactor?

Ok so a build a highly effeicent fusion reactor, and i surround the reaction mass with solar cells that recharge an array of batteries. From the batteries i use an inverter from 12v to 120v (leaving out current type for simplicity) from 120v to a tesla coil (the 15kw transformer being apart of...

What Could a Fusion 'Breakeven' Reactor Look Like?

But what constitues breakeven because under: "B. The point where the we reach NET energy gain. IE where the energy released during the reaction is not only enough to sustain further reactions, but also to generate electricity through whatever method you use." It would seem as though you only...

What Could a Fusion 'Breakeven' Reactor Look Like?

My point is do you really need to have breakeven furion reaction rates, to have a self powered reactor.

Has anyone measured the light intensity given off in a fusion reactor?

Essentialy my fassination is in shrinking a Dyson sphere (as an easy way to put it), the solar panels are an intermediary step in design. Also its not that i want all the particles to stay in the reaction they should escape naturaly because there's nothing strong holding them in, so most of them...

What Could a Fusion 'Breakeven' Reactor Look Like?

But yes, what defines breakeven when operateing a machine such as this. By the way this would be a proof of concept, the hoy grail would be to use black body qusicrystals which would abosrb 90% or so of the electromagnetic energy given off.

Has anyone measured the light intensity given off in a fusion reactor?

Yes you are corect what i ment to say or should say is: the Lux given off will reach a plateau (if one where to graph the fusion rate to Lux) so the low reaction rate would be the fusions per second needed to sustain the Lux output needed, per the device used.
