Undergrad What Happens to Momentum in Non-Conserved Scenarios?
Thanks everyone, after thinking about it for a bit, I can now understand. -
Undergrad What Happens to Momentum in Non-Conserved Scenarios?
Hmm, so the ball kicks the wall which kicks the Earth and Earth gains momentum but it's almost negligible? But what if all of the Ball's kinetic energy gets converted to heat at the collision giving the wall no kinetic energy at all? -
Undergrad What Happens to Momentum in Non-Conserved Scenarios?
Yes. But this wall is rigid and standing firmly on the ground on Earth which revolves around the sun and so on, I left the details because it might get too complicated. -
Undergrad What Happens to Momentum in Non-Conserved Scenarios?
It has no external forces acting. It's just a wall, ball and air surrounding them. I never learned about momentum conservation is different kinds of systems. All I was taught us that momentum is always conserved -
Undergrad What Happens to Momentum in Non-Conserved Scenarios?
I remember throwing clay balls at walls in my childhood and observing them stick to the wall. In a more scientific perspective, considering the ball and wall as a system, I can say that the total momentum before collision is greater than 0. But then, after the collision, the kinetic energy of... -
How Does Unsigned Subtraction Work in Modern Computers Using Complements?
I'm not sure what you mean now. Could you elaborate? What exactly is it for 4 bits? 2's complement or modular additive inverse?- adjacent

How Does Unsigned Subtraction Work in Modern Computers Using Complements?
If the range of 4 bit signed is -8 <-> 7, how come -14 fit in there? Or would it be more wise to call it modular additive inverse instead which happens to be same as 2's complement for unsigned numbers? It actually makes more sense.- adjacent

How Does Unsigned Subtraction Work in Modern Computers Using Complements?
Modern computers don't have circuits dedicated for subtraction. They do it by using the method of complements. All is well when the 2 operands are signed 2's complement numbers. The result of addition will be another 2's complement which, when interpreted as a 2's complement number, will give...- adjacent

Arithmetic sequence involving years
Homework Statement A 25 year old programme for building new houses began in Core Town in the year 1986 and finished in 2010. The number of houses built each year form an arithmetic sequence. Given that 238 houses were built in 2000 and 108 in 2010, find the number of houses built in 1986...- adjacent
