The quetions about is this or that ocidized/reduced are usually simplified to badically just seeing which molecule has change its oxidation state(number) whether the compound is covalent or ionic is irrelevant... when going from SO2 to SO4 -2 the molecule goes from covalent to a polyatomic ion...
It's probably likely that the molten iron can fuse with the diamond to form some steel if it did melt. Another possibility is for the aluminum oxide to form aluminum oxycarbides with formulas such as Al2OC or Al4O4C
Water and ethanol are miscible!
Phthalic acid must be highly soluble in ethanol but not in water at room temp and therefore is a bad solvent for recrystallization. In order to have properly recrystallization the compound must be insoluble or only partially soluble in the solvent at room...
I've read that the photoelectric effect cannot be explained according to Maxwell's equations and theory of electromagnetism. Classical EM theory treats light as a wave and states that the intensity of the light matters and not the frequency. According to Einstein, if we think of light as a...
While they are all related, as stated, they do different things. VB was an initial attempt to understand chemical bonding based on the idea of valency. Atoms use valence electrons to gorm bonds. VSEPR uses the idea that electrons repel and the molecule adopts a specific geometry in order to...
I'm not quite understanding the question. The mole is used as a unit of quantity just like a dozen is used to describe a quantity of 12. The quantity has nothing to do with size. A dozen roses or a dozen eggs is 12 of those items no matter their size.
Why do physicists speak of spacetime as a "fabric" that bends or warps when a mass is introduced if it's a misleading analogy? Is it that it's too difficult to visualize for the average Joe that it's the best analogy they can come up with?
Can you give me the links to the videos? I'm just tryin to understand visually as best as possible how the Sun curves spacetime so much that al the planets orbit it. Also, is there a specific reason as to why the orbit of Mercury processes as much as it does compared to the other planets?
Hello,
I wanted to know how Einstein's General Relativity and its equations simplify to Newton's Universal Law. Einstein's equation is obviously a much more generalized version of Newton's law and gives much more accurate predictions that Newton's laws even if we don't think of Newton's gravity...
I am a high school teacher attempting to give my students a project for designing a rocket powered by the chemical reaction between acetic acid and baking soda to produce CO2 gas.
I have done some simple calculations based on stoichiometric amounts of vinegar and acetic to produce a...
