Abstract algebra or ODE for physics
currently i am a math major, still unsure whether pure or applied. i am also looking to double major in physics. which class would be more helpful to me: abstract algebra, or (upper division) ODE class? I have taken the lower division DE class already.- battousai

Aliprantis/burkinshaw analysis textbook
we did proofs in my multivariable calculus class, using williamson/trotter textbook. just finished with upper division linear algebra using friedberg/insel/spence. writing proofs isn't too much of a problem for me. is this https://www.amazon.com/dp/0521497566/?tag=pfamazon01-20 the book...- battousai

Aliprantis/burkinshaw analysis textbook
yeah that one. So it's at the level of big Rudin? basically I'm looking for a textbook to learn analysis from at the level of baby Rudin. But some people (micromass) hates the blue book for being too terse , and not giving intuition. I have the book, but I'm also looking for other options.- battousai

Aliprantis/burkinshaw analysis textbook
does anyone have any experience of using this book? How does this compare to standard analysis textbooks ie. Baby Rudin, Apostol, Bartle/Sherbert etc.?- battousai

Prerequistes for landau/lifshitz mechanics
i noted in my op that I have taken calculus 3 already, which includes lagrange multipliers, partial derivatives, and vector analysis (line/surface integral, green's and stokes's theorem). I checked my school library and they have the following books: fowles, taylor, morin, and symon. the...- battousai

hi everyone. for the summer, I'm planning to go through the first book in the landau/lifgarbagez series, which is mechanics i believe. I am wondering about the prerequisites for being able to successfully understand the material (physics, math, etc.) my background: I took ap physics c...- battousai

what is covered in graduate linear algebra? I've taken the undergrad linear algebra sequence, which goes all the way to jordan canonical form. my school doesn't offer a graduate sequence, which made me wonder.- battousai
