Does Heating Affect Molecular Vibrational Frequencies?
when a substance cools, its molecules vibrate at a slower speed and when a substance is heated its molecules vibrate quicker, right?. Is the increase in the molecules vibration a result of the heat energy being applied to it, or is it the increase in the vibrational energy of the molecule what...- Benzeen

Heat of vaporisation help please
but isn't it the hydrogen bonding that keeps the molecules close together in the first place? I mean, water in its liquid and solid states has hydrogen bonding but not in the gaseous state, so i thought that is why there is so much more energy needed to get it from liquid to gas, to break those... -

Heat of vaporisation help please
Hi, i am writing a assignment about thermal expansion and contraction and i would like to know if anyone could explain to me why the heat of vaporisation is nearly seven times that of the heat of fusion for water. I thought it might be hydrogen bonding but this is present in both the liquid and... -

Graduate Measuring Photon Force on a Sensitive Scale
wow, that's fascinating, so basically all the photons coming from the sun are still exert only 1/15th the power of its gravity upon the earth. So would different wavelengths therefore produce different radiation pressures? Like, if i fired gamma rays or radio waves at my "infinitely sensitive"...- Benzeen

Graduate Measuring Photon Force on a Sensitive Scale
If you had an extremely sensitive scale (use your imagination) and shone a beam of light upon it, could you measure the force that the photons were exerting on the scale? would there even be a force?- Benzeen

Synthesizing Anhydrous Chloride Salts through Al Foil Reaction
Hi, first post! OK my question is regarding the synthesis of metal halides, specifically those of Chlorine. If i pass a dry stream of HCl(g) over a bed of heated Al foil will this be an acceptable route to the anhydrous salt? I am thinking of generating the hydrogen chloride from conc H2SO4...
