while i appreciate the patronization, i still don't understand what the speed of light has to do with energy. i mean, sure there's proofs out there and all. but i mean, the speed of light seems to me like an arbitrary number when you're talking about the amount of energy in a chunk of matter...- blackbird86

So energy apparently equals mass times the speed of light squared. According to Einstein anyway.
