    Backward orbit of the planets

It may all go blooey at any time, apparently. Blame Ceres and Vesta: http://www.physorg.com/news/2011-07-minor-planets-ceres-vesta-earth.html

YOU: Fix the US Energy Crisis

If the radiative and retained thermal balance of the planet doesn't have to do with energy, what does?

YOU: Fix the US Energy Crisis

Heh. Of course, it's only white by biological convention. Our eyes are built to exploit a particular slice of solar EM frequencies and treat the 'colors' equally so they blend as phenomenological white. A perceived color shows imbalance in the input, which is information to be appreciated and...

YOU: Fix the US Energy Crisis

Careful, I hear it hurts to hold contradictory ideas simultaneously. We few, we precious few, :blushing: who are pushing for Focus Fusion to succeed see a world-wide HIGH ENERGY lifestyle in the cards, because it will provide lots. Energy efficiency is nice, but energy surplus is better.

Focus Fusion is back in business

Fair enough. There's a first time for everything. So far, however, so good: "Lerner: The achievement of a pinch, and on the second shot, means that we have accomplished one of the eight technical goals of the current experimental program. The machine is doing what we designed it to do, which is...

Is Plasma Focus Fusion on the Verge of Success?

Update: a DPF device, capable of 2MA pulses, is now in testing and full-bore experimental use at LLP. The hoped-for timeline is pB11 fusion by the end of 2010. If you want to bet for or against it, it's up on Intrade...

The Atmosphere and Earth's Orbit (Probably Easy Q)

Gas molecules stick around on the surface for approximately the same reason you do. They would only escape Earth's gravity by achieving escape velocity, just like you. A few in the upper atmosphere get bashed hard enough by neighbours to make it, but most fall back.
