High School Is Quantum Mechanics necessary for understanding electromagnetic phenomena?
Is there a link between electron spin and magnetism? can a magnetic field also be thought of as a 'spin' field. If the eletron spin is linked to the magnetic field then can magnetic repulsion be caused be the pauli exclusion principle?- brianhurren

Is it normal for a student to get frustrated learning a coding language?
in a nutshell YES. especial when you get syntax after syntax error. quite common as a beginner. im speaking from experience here lol- brianhurren

High School Measuring a circle and the Uncertainty principle
I have been trying to see if my understanding of uncertainty principle is right. So I thought consider a circle. for this augment we will look at its diameter and it circumference. Suppose you get a length of string and make a exact measure of the circles circumference using this length of...- brianhurren

High School Event Horizon: Understanding the Singularity of a Black Hole
Summary: approaching a black-hole event-horizon at the speed of light. as one falls towards the singularity of a black-hole, one exelerats towards the speed of light. At the speed of light one crosses the event-horrizion. once past it information can't be sent out into the universe because it...- brianhurren

Undergrad Can electrons absorb a photon?
looking at the way you are describing photons and eletrons, it sounds like you are assuming that they are some sort of physical round blob like a ball. in quatumphysics they are not really like that.- brianhurren

Undergrad Olbers' paradox and infinite number of stars
what if there is more than one level of infinity? what if every star mapped onto an infinite amount of space. so, even though there is an infinite amount of stars there is even more infinite amount of space so stars are aleph 0 and the space is aleph 1 a mapping of 1 to infinity, the space would...- brianhurren

Undergrad Olbers' paradox and infinite number of stars
Olbers' paradox reckons that the sky should be blazing bright if there is an infinite number of evenly distributed stars (galaxies). the argument is something like in every direction that you look there would be a star. so the sky would be blazing bright. but even if there were an infinite...- brianhurren

Graduate What will happen if light is longitudinal wave?
year. but I was thinking in terms of if you were a scifi writer and you are writing a story about inter-dimensional communication or something and you invented a way of making light waves propagate longitudinally for what ever reason. maybe refer to sound waves as a rough analogy. at least...- brianhurren

Graduate What will happen if light is longitudinal wave?
okey. so therefore we can look at just sound waves. and the question would be: How does the behaviour of a transverse sound wave differ from a longitudinal one, in the same or similar medium?- brianhurren

Graduate What will happen if light is longitudinal wave?
so if light was longitudinal. we would be looking at the rearafication and compression of the E.M field. how about looking at it in reference to a completely different question. how would sound behave if it was transverse? Or how about comparing the behaviour of P waves and S waves through the...- brianhurren

High School Can reflected light help generate electricity with a solar panel?
your last statement is a very good point. if you over work the panel it would produce excess heat and deteriorate the junctions faster and damage the panels.- brianhurren
