Mercury in glass-laboratory thermometer doesn't stick to glass?
Yeah, I know it's an old thread but it popped up when I was googling the viscosity of mercury and thought I would post a useful answer regarding the OP for others that end up here the same way I did. Anyhow, high cohesion is the reason mercury doesn't wet the glass. Mercury molecules are... -

Mystery Political Call: Is Blocking Numbers Legal?
Yes, it's legal Not only were they given a loophole to continue annoying you even if you're on the do not call list but they can do so in a manner that prevents you from being able to block them. Even if you have a service like the "Privacy Selector Service" some of them have computer programs...- C1ay

News The Impact of Alito's Nomination on Individual Rights and Government Power
I think he nominated a swing vote to replace a swing vote. Is there a reason he should have nominated a more conservative or more liberal vote to replace the retiring swing vote?- C1ay

News Why is reciting the pledge of allegiance in schools controversial?
No, not again. It was never constitutional in the first place so you should actually have said, "is unconsitutional still".- C1ay

Analysis of Hartshorne's (1962) Proof of the Existence of God
God is an invention of man to explain the things he doesn't understand. He invented the sun god to explain the sun coming up before he learned that it comes up because we go round it. He invented the fire god to explain fire before he understood that it was just the result of heat, fuel and...- C1ay

Can you prove God's non-existence(question only for atheists,if possible)?
Why? If I don't believe in God why would I bother to spend my time proving he doesn't exist. If you claim he does exist then the burden is yours to prove it. You couldn't just claim that apples are blue and pass on to those that don't believe it to prove it false, it would be your burden to...- C1ay

Undergrad Explore Irrational Numbers: Find Out How Close You Can Get!
Close but no cigar Arbitrarily close to x does not equal x. If it would equal x exactly then x would not be irrational since irrational is, by definition, a number that does not terminate or become periodic.- C1ay

High School Figuring Carpet Price: A Discrepancy in Charges?
But... I think carpet comes on a 12 foot roll. If this is true I cannot imagine why they would not charge for a full cut across since the remaining edge piece would be a waste. As for the 29 feet they may charge by the even yard only of which the next increment is 30 feet or 10 yards. I have...- C1ay
