What is the Security Clearance in the UK?
Yes of course. But I think anything related to nuclear requires at least the lesser SC (BPSS?). Some colleagues told me that the security clearance was no problem for them, the company did everything, but I guess that's not for National Defence, just regular nuclear plants. My aim was not...- Cactor

What is the Security Clearance in the UK?
But then why do they ask for a security clearance in the job advertisement if you are not supposed to have any control of it?- Cactor

What is the Security Clearance in the UK?
Hi I have recenlty been graduated as a Nuclear Engineer and I am looking for jobs abroad. As the only foreign language I can speak fluently is English, I am thinking about applying in the UK, where there are more job vacancies in the nuclear field besides France. I see a lot of positions...- Cactor

Questions about fast reactors and nuclear waste
I made a very coarse approximation in the second formula. It's an hipotethical case in which you only have U-238 and Pu-239. All Uranium transofmrs into Plutonium, and all Plutonium undergoes fission. This approximation is not so far from reality. The TRU.CR is, in theory = TRU atoms produced...- Cactor

Questions about fast reactors and nuclear waste
Ok, I just realized that my formula to calculate the transuranics conversion ratio was wrong. It should be: TRU.CR.= (HMD-TRUD)/TRUD Where HMD is total heavy metal mass destroyed and TRUD is total transuranic mass destroyed. Or, to make it simple, it is like: TRU.CR.= U-238 destroyed /...- Cactor

Engineering Nuclear engineer graduate, need advice
I am going to graduate soon of a 5 year long major. The major was a general engineering with specialization in nuclear engineering. Now I have to look for a job, but I don't know exactly what to look for. Should I look for jobs in the nuclear field, or try to broaden the search and look for...- Cactor

Questions about fast reactors and nuclear waste
Hello, I have a few questions regarding the transmutation processes inside fast reactors. I would appreciate your help. I am doing some work at the university about SFR and ABR. First of all, I know that fast reactors can operate in 3 modes: burner, breeder and converter (halfway between...- Cactor

About current/voltage reflection in a long coaxial wire.
If I have a long coaxial wire with open end and apply a short voltage pulse, that pulse begins propagating through it until it reaches the end. Then, it reflects back to where it came from. I understand that it behaves like a normal wave, maintaining its energy and bouncing when it reaches a...- Cactor
