Can I use thermal expansion to hold together materials?
Okay, I will give a quick run down of what I am trying to do here. What I want to do is build a tesla turbine from old hard drive disks. Being that they're already rated for high RPM, it seems like a viable option. Now these disks are probably going to be aluminum and I am probably going to buy...- Cbrown92

Electrical Efficiency of Ionized Air?
Why can't you use a coil-disk in a unipolar dynamo? I guess I am trying to think of a way to combine this concept with a tesla turbine. Where you have a magnets on either side on the outer casing of the turbine, and the copper disks inside and attached to a steel shaft. Tesla turbines are...- Cbrown92

Electrical Efficiency of Ionized Air?
So basically high energy arcs with very little distance in between does what I was thinking they would? Awesome! Reading the pdf as I type this. I am not sure if I'd have to post another question I have elsewhere but I will give it a shot here first. When building a unipolar dynamo from what...- Cbrown92

Electrical Efficiency of Ionized Air?
Alright so from what everyone here has told me, transferring electrical energy through an arc is just a waste? I thought that might be different because when air is charged enough it's said to behave similar to metals. If that's the case wouldn't it behave similarly to something like aluminium...- Cbrown92

Electrical Efficiency of Ionized Air?
Alright It's been over a year since I've posted and received amazing help the last time I did. Now I've a question I cannot seem to find an answer to. Say you have an electrical charge and use a transformer to step up the voltage high enough to where it arcs in air. Then you have a conductive...- Cbrown92

Undergrad Calculate pressure from vehicle moving through air
Sorry for having taken so long to reply, but if I use a drag coefficient, that accounts for the drag in its entirety not a specific sectional area. Stagnation pressure, from what I understand applies to pressure in pipes. I guess what I'm trying to find out is the amount of drag on that single... -

Undergrad Calculate pressure from vehicle moving through air
I tried F=MA in relation to P=F/A but the vehicle isn't accelerating, its moving at a constant rate. Unless I'm confused about the definition of acceleration itself? Is there anything I'm missing? -

Undergrad Calculate pressure from vehicle moving through air
Alright, I've been looking everywhere, and tried to use a few formulas but they don't answer what I'm trying to find. Let's say I have a car that weighs 1815kg )4000 pounds) and its traveling at 90kph (roughly 56 mph) with a flat one square meter (10.76 sq ft.) grill facing the wind as it...
