Graduate Is the speed of light really medium dependent?
Okay, russ_watters. Thanks. -
Graduate Is the speed of light really medium dependent?
Yes, Bartholomew. -
Graduate Is the speed of light really medium dependent?
And that is what I questioned, I thought, Integral. Not being that up on Physics, I was willing to grant that protons, like photons, could pass through air, glass, and a vacuum; but the lead bit didn't seem right and I questioned it. -
Graduate Is the speed of light really medium dependent?
The original post, to which I replied, referred to 'Light', not 'gamma radiation' Sorry for not immediately bringing it to your attention and avoiding the futile word play you wish to engage in. And please don't retort with: 'But they're just different energy levels of the same phenomena.' -
Graduate Is the speed of light really medium dependent?
I really don't need the attempt at word play, Integral. Penetrate =/= pass through ... Check a dictionary. -
Undergrad Benouilli Effect: How Airplanes and Paper Fly
Yes, Fairfield, you did: Completely ignoring that when flying 'upside down' you are relying completely on an increased angle of attack and that the required AofA increases drag; hence the greater power/fuel requirement. No, zoobyshoe, I cannot read minds, but I do know a little about... -
Graduate Is the speed of light really medium dependent?
Okay, which are you discussing? Protons or photons? Besides, penetrating a 'significant thickness of lead' is not the same as 'passing through' it. -
Undergrad Benouilli Effect: How Airplanes and Paper Fly
Try a little common sense, Fairfield: A symmetric airfoil's upper and lower surfaces are the same, yet the plane flies ... Ever hear of a little something called 'angle of attack'? -
Graduate Is the speed of light really medium dependent?
Huh? Most will agree that an individual proton propagates at C whether passing through air, lead, glass or a vacuum. Not me! -
News Analyzing the Controversy: Evaluating the Presidency of George W. Bush
Bush has the guts to lie, big time, to the American people ... No whimpy lies like Clinton told. And, better yet, he's convinced he has God on his side. What more could you want from a President?- Chagur

Graduate How can the universe exist without time?
And here I thought the avatar was of a venting vulcano! C'est la vie. -
Graduate How can the universe exist without time?
I do not equate being a fool with maintaining an illogical position. If I did, I would not have replied after my initial post. Did you take the time to check my profile? -
Graduate How can the universe exist without time?
FACT: No one knows for sure. True, that is why most people accept a 'Creator'; they, like you, can not accept not 'knowing'. I do not have that problem, as you may have gathered, and contend only that your position is illogical. I do not demand that you accept the BB Theory, only that... -
Graduate How can the universe exist without time?
Zantra, you just don't get it, do you? My initial post said it all: No Universe = No Time. No Time = No Universe. Even with Eh's post referring to your lack of logic, you persist. "I refuse to simply accept that there was nothing, then poof." Believe whatever you want, but don't... -
Graduate How can the universe exist without time?
Zantra, 'Nature has shown us'? You must be kidding! I don't really think so. Have a nice day.
