Thank you for the quick response. I just have it in my mind that initial velocity is the velocity at time t = 0. I find it weird how 'the holding' of the ball is considered t = 0 but the throwing of the ball(after the hold) is considered t = 0. I guess it just takes time to learn how to...

I am relatively new in understanding physics. I have a quick question that I think a lot of you will find easy to explain. Why is it that when a ball is dropped initial velocity is 0 but when it is thrown the initial velocity is not 0? Do they not both start at rest?
