About me... I love math. I love how I can then take that understanding and apply it to physics to better understand the physical world around me. My mother was a General Education teacher (Kindergarten through 5th Grade) for more than 20 years) who got her degree in organ, and I also have a passion for mathematics and physics for wanting to understand music even better.

My 'ultimate' goal, as a future teacher (or maybe future musicologist?), would be the ability to sit down with a student and show them the equation(s) which describe, if not with EXACT certainty, with great certainty what is involved with executing the function of their particular instrument efficiently and with good 'tone' in a mathematical form they can understand so they can proceed forward with a concrete scientific foundation upon which to build their technique, as opposed to some whimsical 'thing' that "you either got, or ya ain't got", spending hour upon hour guessing and guessing just to get one thing right. This goes regardless of what instrument they're playing: Woodwind, Brass, Strings, or Percussion. Even to the point of being able to take a brand new student and, before their first lesson, have them on virtually the same level, intellectually, as an intermediate or, dare I say it, professional player.

I have *some* experience in calculus thanks to an advanced placement Calculus AB class, but an older friend of mine who has his Doctorate in mathematics has told me I have strong skills in algebra. While I am aspiring to teach in the field of music (either at the highschool level, or further up into higher education) I nevertheless would love to learn more and more about understanding and applying matrices, logarithmic relationships, and further into Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Differential Equations, Fourier Transforms, Bessel functions...and on and on in physics in terms of music production so I can better understand and then TEACH how an instrument is and can be played.
