Will the Expanding Universe Break the Attractive Forces Between Particles?

What type of force you are talking about ? There is no meaning of force unless you specify it i.e., gravitational, electromagnetic...

Who was John Bahcall and what impact did he have on the astrophysics community?

John Bahcall was really a great physicist. His research interests very diverse from particle physics to cosmology. He had been associted with many observational projects , like the Hubble space telescope. He wrote three or four books also. I like the book "Unsolved problems in astrophysics". I...

What is shot noise and how is it estimated in galaxy surveys?

I am reading about galaxy surveys. I want to know what is shot noise ? how we estimate it into real and Fourier space ? I am basically reading astro-ph/0503603 & astro-ph/0503604. I am not able to solve exercise 4, 5, 6. I will be thankful, if anybody can provide me some reference.

Explaining Celestial Body Movement in a Sphere of Particles

I think yuou forget the gravity, which works only one way (attraction) . Static solution of gravitating matter is not stable so you need an expanding universe. Once you have an expanding universe then you can not avoind the big bang (initial very hot and denser phase of matter)

Questions About Time Before the Big Bang

Yes, existence is the result of a process of cause and effect, that is why there is some cause for the events which take place at "t=0" also. Now you have two choices: either use "-ve" time for the case of the the events happening at "t=0" ar shift the zero of time. So there is such as...

What Are the Best Current Physics and Astrophysics Books for Graduate Students?

hi, I have some money which I have to spend on physics & astrophysics books. I want your openion on this matter. I am looking for books which are not too specific. For example I like A&A library of Springer but I do not want to buy books like "Supernovae" or "Gravitational lensing". From...

Is the Universe an Infinite Regression of Black Holes?

This is interesting to think that we might be living inside a black hole, however, due to various physical raesons this is not true. Yes, there is a great resemblence between our universe and black holes and that is both have "event horizons": limits beyond which one cannot communicate.

Questions About Time Before the Big Bang

time I have read most of the posts in this thread. What has been said is what we find in popular science books i.e., the birth of time coincides with the big bang. As I know, so far Einstein's theory of relativity is the authentic theory of space and time. This theory clearly rejects the...

Cosmology: the scinece on the universe.

I mean how various complex chemicals like proteins etc., synthesize from simple chemical elements, and how how the life become complex with time. My point is just to say that we a theory of biological evolution, which is quite successful. Since the universe includes observer also so in...

Cosmology: the scinece on the universe.

Hi, everybody, I am planning to write an article titled "cosmology: the scinece on the universe". So far I have written about 40 pages. I want to share/check my ideas with you. Abstract of the article looks as follows: Every object in the universe, living or non living, changes with time...
