    Direction of Angular Velocity (w)

Okay I see. So the direction of the ang vel vector is always perpendicular to the plane of rotation. Visually i can see this now. Thanks for the link cosurfr

    Direction of Angular Velocity (w)

Okay think i got it, but if someone would confirm that would be awesome. Angular vel describes the speed of rotation. The direction of the velocity vector will be along the axis of rotation. Thus since the axis is pointing up, the angular velocity vector points up also. Thanks again...

    Direction of Angular Velocity (w)

Homework Statement This problem is all conceptual and there is no calculations needed. My question is this: A top is spinning counterclockwise as seen from above. It is also moving to the right with a linear speed v. What is the direction of the angular velocity vector w=theta/time...

Finding angular velocity using conservation of angular momentum

Thanks so much. Thats exactly where i went wrong. The initial ang vel of the bug would have been the same as the initial ang vel of the rod (constant). That cleared it all up. Thanks a ton for not just doing it for me but rather helping me find the way. This website is the best FYI cosurfr

Finding angular velocity using conservation of angular momentum

Hello everyone, I hope that someone can help me solve this rather than solving it for me, here's the problem and what I've done so far...oh and thanks in advance! Homework Statement A thin rod has a length of 0.25 m and rotates in a circle on a frictionless tabletop. The axis is...
