Linear Algebra - Find the vectors
Homework Statement For u=(−5 −1 −13) and v=(2 1 4), find the vectors u1 and u2 such that: (i) u1 is parallel to v (ii) u2 is orthogonal to v (iii) u = u1 + u2 The Attempt at a Solution Since u2 is perpendicular to v I used the dot product set equal to zero: (x y z) . ( 2 1 4) = 2x + y +...- cris623

Linear Algebra - Equilibrium state of dynamical system
Homework Statement Find the equilibrium state of the dynamical system x1(t+1)=−05x1(t)−02x2(t)−1 x1(t+1)=26x1(t)+07x2(t)+1 the 1's and 2's after the x's are actually subscripts I have no idea where to start with this. We did equilibrium systems in class but I've never seen the...- cris623

Linear Algebra - Find the value of a such that 2 lines lie in a plane
My assignment indicates that there should only be one answer. Even though both you and I came to the conclusion that a varies based on what the value of t is.- cris623

Linear Algebra - Find the value of a such that 2 lines lie in a plane
Thanks for the catch on my equation for z. Right before you posted I realized that t=s. Alright so I switched up my matrix a bit and put "a" on the right hand side and solved for s and t. I got t=(7-a)/-5 and s=(7-a)/-5 which just showed that s and t were equal to each other which I already...- cris623

Linear Algebra - Find the value of a such that 2 lines lie in a plane
Linear Algebra - Find the value of "a" such that 2 lines lie in a plane Homework Statement Consider the lines L1 and L2 with the following equations: L1: (x y z)=(7 4 −4)+t(2 2 −2) L2: (x y z)=(a 4 −4)+s(−3 2 −2) Find the value of a such that L1 and L2 lie in a plane. They also gave...- cris623

Linear Algebra - Finding the equation of a plane from 3 points
I'm still new with cross products and I swear I checked it like 10 times. I messed up when subtracting (-1) from 9, instead I subtracted (+1) from 9 to get 8 rather than 10. Geeze. Thanks a lot!- cris623
