Construct a Wind Power Generator: Determine Rotor Size for 3V & .2W
How did you determine that the fan exerts a force of 15N? Do you have a controlled way to rotate the electric motor? For example, an eggbeater crank style hand drill or a variable speed electric hand drill? Do you have a volt meter and some resistors so you can put a load on the motor and...- ctjen

Construct a Wind Power Generator: Determine Rotor Size for 3V & .2W
What will be the velocity of the wind source used to test this device? How will you apply the 15N horizontal force to test the tower for rigidity? Chris- ctjen

Stepper Motor Torque Characteristic Measurement
Using your descriptors T2=F1*e^[(mu_sub_k)*(theta)] mu_sub_k is the kinematic coefficient of friction. theta is the angle of revolutions the string has made around the pulley in radians (2*pi for once around). If you use a known weight to tension T2 and measure F1 you can calculate...- ctjen

Construct a Wind Power Generator: Determine Rotor Size for 3V & .2W
Can you use an cup style anemometer as a rotor? I believe the formulas for these are readily available. How tall will your tower be? Chris- ctjen

Stepper Motor Torque Characteristic Measurement
The idea is to wrap the pulley enough times so that the force F1 is negligible. Then the torque equals T2*r or Weight*r. Adjusting the number of wraps and the takeoff angle to get F1 small would be simple in practice and I'm sure this is why they use this configuration of torque measurement...- ctjen

High School Centroids of various triangles.
The centroid is 1/3 the perpendicular distance from any selected base to the opposite vertex marked out on the median from that base to that vertex. It works for all planar triangles. For the center of mass to be coincident with the centroid the lamina comprising the triangle must be of... -

Undergrad Question from a helicopter pilot. .
A single strap tied to the floor at each end will pull the item placed between the tie points against the floor with a force that is equal to twice the tension force in the strap. The load on the floor underneath the item will be distributed according to the area of contact (force/area=stress)... -

Current of a coil surrounding a solenoid
I'm pretty sure that this problem has to do with the R-L time constant. For clarification though what does I_0 represent (in words please)? Chris- ctjen

"Assortment of Structural Steel Beams"&amp
For starters the wording of this problem is somewhat confusing. "Assume that if a customer requests Strength k, then Itsa Steel may, if it chooses, supply the demand by a beam of possibly greater Strength j, where j < k." Does this mean that the weight of the j beam is less than the k beam...- ctjen
