    Understanding & Knowing.Two Distinct Realms?

hmmm I think that the two are different and both contrinuting to each other with knowing superior to understanding. Understanding is when you learn something new and it's 'in your head'. Knowing is when you can think more deeply about it and you can contribute to that knowledge and build on it...

Finding Your Own Moral Compass: The Paradox of Drugs and Sin

I meant the type of drugs that are usually illegal. Such as LSD, cocaine etc. I did not mean medicinal drugs. These are perfectly ok. No, I wanted to expand my post to athiests as well as thiests and agnostics. If I said mind, body and soul I would get told that they don't believe in a...

There is no life after death (and no hell)

The revelations could not have happened millions of years ago as it was written in future tense after the death of Jesus. It could in fact be in play already only stretched out over a long time. Satan may have been let out now as people have only started to question religion a few hundred years...

Finding Your Own Moral Compass: The Paradox of Drugs and Sin

You can only judge this on what you think yourself. If you genuinely believe that taking drugs will get you somewhere then go ahead but I personally think you have to be stupid to take them as in my opinion they harm mind, body and if you believe in it soul.

What Lies Beyond: Exploring Different Beliefs on Life After Death

You can't reach enlightement by taking drugs. It is after all one of the main rules in buddhism not to cloud your mind by drugs or alcohol. When you take drugs you halucinate not meditate.

What Do Different Religions Believe About God and Nations?

"not believing in the existence of gods" "disbelief in the existence of God or any other deity " i.e. they don't believe in God therefore it is not a religion as there is no organised athiest 'gathering' that I know of it is not a religion. As most athiests I know say simply 'I don't believe...

There is no life after death (and no hell)

"oh, to hear jesus, buddha, mohamed, ghandi - live!" There's a thing called astral projection that you should try if you want a live reception from the masters. But with the attitude you have about them at the moment success rate maybe near to zero.

There is no life after death (and no hell)

I notice that the book of revelations has been forgotten about in this debate which basically is all about heaven and hell and life after death. Read it yourself before making judgement please.

What Do Different Religions Believe About God and Nations?

I'm a singletonist (my surname) meaning that I believe in certain aspects from all religions. By the way, has anyone noticed that all religions are strangely similar at the core for example ancient greece and christianity+ judaism + islam (?) all had a mistake in the beginning - pandora's box...

What would be proof that God exists?

The minute that you try to measure and record God he deserts you. If you try to justify why God is here then you don't actually believe in God. A quote from Jesus "Believe in me" that's all you have to do. Anyway to prove that God exists in my way and a slightly scientifical way say this to...

    Philosophy: Should we eat meat?

"More animals to conduct researches on." From the first post. Wouldn't this be defeating the object? Personally I would prefer to see better conditions for all captive animals first. Also, research is actually more cruel than the food industry. That is vivisection not anything else.

What Lies Beyond: Exploring Different Beliefs on Life After Death

My thoughts on death are very mixed but in quick I think 3 things happen to you when you die and I might as well put it on a karma scale Really good ---- heaven reincarnation ---- human ----- animal ------plant Really bad------- hell When you reach heaven...

What planet/moon would you most like to explore?

Io or possibly planet x if it exists Abell 2029 just because of the sheer size of it! I'd like to visit a nebula just to see the process of making stars or a parallel universe if that counts - with parallels you can travel in time technically the only problem is you'd have to trave through...

Formation of Black Holes from Neutron Stars and White Dwarfs

With miniscule black holes wouldn't it be possible for humans to do it? Of course we don't have the technology at the mo but if you managed to create the same effect with the right atom. As the bh is smaller than the star then you could get away with something bigger... but it is technically...
