Graduate Can Kinetic Energy in Electromagnetic Waves Explain Their Speed in a Vacuum?
True, sound waves (kinetic energy dispersing through a medium) requires something to travel through. So how can photons transfer kinetic energy (and at such velocity) without a medium. Correct me if I am wrong (very possible) but photons carry kinetic energy as shown by the photo electric effect...- David Burke

Graduate Can Kinetic Energy in Electromagnetic Waves Explain Their Speed in a Vacuum?
Does anyone have an explanation for why kinetic energy carried by electromagnetic radiation travels at the speed of light? My understanding of the speed of sound is that the denser the medium, the faster the wave velocity. Since this is just kinetic energy propagating through a medium, how is...- David Burke

Graduate What is the process to acheive hadronization?
I am interested to know how to achieve hadronization (the specific details). Is anyone aware of a site where I could find this information (presented in a readable format)? I am also interested to know what types of hadron clusters result from this event. Thank you for any help you might...- David Burke

Graduate Velocity of particle waves in an object?
I just looked up the speed of sound in a material and now understand the compression/decompression of an object under force. Thank you very much as I have been puzzling over this for a long time. However, it has led me to another problem... I'm confident this question is stupid but I’m going...- David Burke

Graduate Velocity of particle waves in an object?
I require help with understanding the velocity of colliding particles along the length of an object under acceleration from a vector force... Problem: If a rod were constructed with a length of 1 light year and sufficient force were applied at one end to move the rod, it is assumed a pulse of...- David Burke

High School What is the definition of energy?
When we say that their are four fundamental forces are we saying that the universe is nothing more than a complex arrangement of those forces. Because if nothing in the entire universe is ridged, then it would seem that the entire universe is one enormouse field built with four component forces...- David Burke

High School What is the definition of energy?
I have a question I would like to raise on a broader philosophical issue of our understanding of energy. I have come to a conclusion that their is no evidence solid state particles exist. All energy appears to be formed from fields such as the electro magnetic and strong nuclear force acting...- David Burke

Is the New Telecom Ad in OZ Promising Sci-Fi Tech for Real?
Has anyone found any refference on the net about the new telecom add in OZ suggesting they will be marketing new sci-fi tech over the next decade? I've only seen it once and would like to know if they are full of crap or if they're for real.- David Burke

Is It Possible to Create a 3D Movie Experience?
I'm a gamer and I hope it's well within the ten year mark because I truly intend to be permanently hooked to affordable VR in my old age instead of having some nurse wiping my but for me and doing nothing all day except stairing out some window and slowly going insane...- David Burke

Falsification for scientific theories
If a theory does not correspond to the results of an experiment then it is not correct in those circumstances. If it does not correspond to any results in any relevant experiment and cannot be used in any application then it's a load of crap and needs to be disregarded. Aditionally, many...- David Burke

Are Class Notes More Effective Than Textbooks for Learning?
I am pretty certain that if you know the ground work leading to a textbook you will find it simpler but many of us are not as good as we think at our chosen field. Text don't spoon feed us the pre topic math, they just assume you know what's required in a thourough manner and move on from there.- David Burke

Are Class Notes More Effective Than Textbooks for Learning?
I agree with WARGRETMONKKTL. I started a physics/math degree with the preconception that I was at an apropriate level to do the work. However, I was not. Turns out that I was infact far short of the desired level in mathematics due to having skipped a vast area of study in years 7 and 8. Simple...- David Burke

Understanding Time: Is it Real or Fictional?
You have complicated the issue far to much. Time is change. We require a way to measure everything in science and the universal property of change is not excluded from this human desire. Time is the answer, a means by which to measure change in the universe and thereby compare observations as...- David Burke

High School Electrostatic Wall: David Swenson's 3M Anomaly
Nope, I come from Australia and our biggest telecommunications company Telstra (the old telecom) is running adds that suggest they have the tech to do such a thing and will be selling it within ten years. I know it sounds like complete garbage to suggest it's possible and I was equally surprised...- David Burke

Undergrad Can some one who understands gravity explain this?
Mate! I know this is a debunking thread but you should really get a grip on reality. Dude, it's magic/entertainment. Science is based on being able to replicated results so that they're useful. Not just to entertain people. Mate, he's suspended by a rope of some sort, have a look at the...- David Burke
