What's the easiest college classes you've taken?
The easy classes seem hard because they are so easy you put off reading them and view them as a waste of time. In any case, most liberal arts classes, i.e. psychology, history, political science, etc..., are all easy classes. IF it is an introduction class, expect to get an A if you read the...- DBTS

Is There a Scientific Obligation to Benefit Humanity?
I have similar views. I am in the sciences because I find the field I am studying fascinating and really do not care for money to be honest. I also find it a way to get away from the stresses of life and imagine various possibilities. The humanitarian aspect of it is just icing on a great cake...- DBTS

Physics Is a Degree in Physics Worthless Compared to Electrical Engineering in Industry?
I come from experience. My parents supported three children living on $35k/year living in a decent neighborhood and going to an actual good school (No welfare, ever). So, living off of $50,300/year is good. You just have to know how to budget. $97k/year? That is a lot of money to live off...- DBTS

Schools Grad school for physics with a minor in physics?
Friend of mine has an actual tested IQ of 110 (High Average) and completed his Physics degree (B.S.) with honors, so I wouldn't place too much emphasis on IQ. He works harder and practices on problems which is a factor to do well. I also believe understanding is a major contribution to do well...- DBTS

Math Do I even have the capabilities to do a math degree?
Lol, I had or, still have the same problem, it only means you are thinking. While the problem may be simple, you do not see it yet until you solve it. Of course there will be difficult looking problems with very easy solutions and easy looking problems with difficult solutions. It happens all of...- DBTS

Should I keep going? Should I leave? If I stay, what do?
Five hours of sleep a night is somewhat good. I would say exercise, eat a good breakfast in the morning, and take an hour or two to just relax so that you ease your mind. I know how you feel, bad semesters suck, but what is done is done, focus on the next semester and do not keep dwelling over...- DBTS

Programs How can one combine different areas of specialization in a PhD program?
"Hordes" as in about 100 people. :-p I honestly could not go into theoretical physics. It takes more than just hard-work, rather, intelligence and creativity to even be successful or a bit good at it. Not that I do not have the intelligence to comprehend it, I do comprehend most concepts...- DBTS

I need your advice with my schedule, please
You are seriously busy with that kind of schedule. I would study pre-calculus, Calculus I, and test out of Calc. I and just take Calculus II. Likewise with College Algebra, it is not much harder than Algebra II and most of the stuff you are learning merely integrates geometry which is also...- DBTS

Courses For your Chemistry course, do you usually read the entire book,
How well did you end up doing? With that type of studying I would expect no less than an A(-). I hear some professors make their students read the whole book, other professors do not. It depends on the one teaching the class ultimately. I always felt when you focus in on essential material...- DBTS

US Military OCS, physical scientist.
Not necessarily. From what some of my training officers have told me, and the actual contracts I signed, once I obtain both my physics (b.s) and biology (b.s.) degrees, I will work in their scientific department, 61S Scientists for about 3 years, then head on to grad school so that I can satisfy...- DBTS

Biophysics Majors: When Your School Doesn't Offer One
I mean, if I have taken a lot of physics classes and am majoring in biology, would I necessarily have to also major in physics in order to be accepted into graduate school under that program (biophysics)?- DBTS
